We have 2 outdoor dogs and one very spoiled old lady who is usually following me everywhere (so possibly she may be visible for our introduction but I always remove her for your play time). All of them can be COMPLETELY out of sight/sound if your pup is reactive. Alternately, they are friendly and available for playmates by request. They all have very different play styles and can be used singly depending on your pup.

All livestock is ALWAYS securely fenced apart from the Sniffspot pasture during visits. Most will likely be out of sight, but it is easy to arrange visits (either with fence between or controlled face-to-face introductions). Horses, sheep and goats are all familiar with dogs. Sheep are not available for face-to-face interaction (because two of the ewes are aggressive toward dogs and the rest are super scared of dogs) but they can be viewed from a different paddock. Neighbors have chickens which are 99% contained and not visible from the Sniffspot area unless one wanders, hence the 99%. Starting in late 2024, we will be housing a rescue horse that will be readily visible and available for petting (but will be securely separated).

We have a gate and an approximately 1/4 mile long driveway. We will leave a gate remote for you to use to access the property. You know you are at the right address if you see a black gate with a black star and on the right side of the driveway (usually on your gps map) there is a kidney-shaped stock tank pond. On the driver's side of the fence, we hang the remote prior to your expected arrival. The gate opens into the pasture and closes automatically. Please do not pause in the path of the gate; when you are clear of the concrete, you are welcome to stop because you will be outside of the gate's swing. When you leave, the gate opens automatically and please remember at this time: stay back from the gate since it opens toward your car as you exit. Proceed and pass through the upper gate, which will be open for you, then choose from ample parking! A welcome banner will indicate the closest parking spots.

Description

Tons of space for active dogs to run and play at this working ranch located just southeast of Austin (10 miles from Southpark Meadows). Recommended stay at least one full hour to explore fully. The ranch has multiple fenced areas that can be used (smaller areas if your dog isn't trained to come can be arranged). Otherwise, enjoy the huge 5+ acre playground featuring stock tank pond, picnic table, some shade. Refreshments available upon request for a small donation.

Note on water level and algae: seasonally, the algae "blooms" and recently we have not seen enough rain to keep the tanks pretty and full. No algae is "good" for animals, so please keep this in mind if you visit during seasons when there is a bloom. All of my livestock use the stock tank ponds as a water source year round, but want dog visitors to be aware. We have a refrigerator stocked with cold sodas, seltzer waters, water, juices and miscellaneous choices. Giant Splash Pad$10

Due to our pond's waning water, we added a Splash Pad as an alternative! This sprinkler pad is now available and ready to make many dogs (and humans) happy and cooler after running around.

Livestock interaction$1

We have people and dog friendly livestock including: dog-tolerant goats, seasonally lambs or goat kids, a gentle arabian horse diagnosed with cancer rescued to spend her days here, or a playmate dog (2 personalities to choose from).

Snacks (human)$1

We always have salty and sweet snacks available. Examples include (some or all may be available on any given day): Single serving "Frito Lay" brand chips, Single-serve nut packs, Cookie or brownie treats, Granola type bars, 100% fruit leather snacks (yummy and lo-cal), Fresh fruit seasonally (inquire prior to ordering for current selection available).

Sprinkler Fun$5

If your dog enjoys sprinklers, this is a great option. We now have two different sprinklers to choose from. You can turn it "on" for up to 30 minutes of fun play time!

Our place is a beautiful animal-oriented property. It is technically a working ranch with cows, sheep, goats, chickens and horses (many cross fenced areas so livestock can be separated from dogs or not). Ideally suited for doggie fun, we have a combination of open space and "wooded" areas and there's a great pond for dogs to cool off and play. We have plans to add agility obstacles in the near future. For a great overnight getaway, we also have a guest house that can be rented. Best of all, we are located 30 minutes from Austin and San Marcos.
