45It's very difficult for me to criticize Sniffspots because I'm always just feeling so grateful to anyone who is generous enough to share their property....but, unfortunately, this Sniffspot just didn't really work for us. I do however think it would be awesome for someone else. We went on a hot day. Kerry gave us a tour and pointed out the 4 areas we could use: the potty area, the fenced in training yard, the indoor training room and the open field. We didn't want to use the training yard because Kerry said this yard was not to be pottied in at all. She said if we wanted to use that area we should make sure to visit the potty area first so Cooper would not go potty in the training yard. I knew this wouldn't really work out and the "potty area" is just part of another larger yard (Kerry said he should only potty in this specific area of the yard) which would mean he would need to be leashed. The main reason I take Cooper to Sniffspots is so he can run free and didn't want to immediately put him on a leash. So, we decided to go to the open field. It seemed okay at first. There are some larger shade trees which we badly needed and, although not technically fenced, is mostly surrounded by a thick blackberry brush that would be challenging to cross. Cooper has excellent recall so it was no problem for us. However, there isn't a whole bunch to explore in this field and most of the ground had blackberry vines popping up all over so it wasn't great for Cooper to walk on. I pulled a couple thorns out of his feet during our visit and he was snagged a few times by hanging vines when walking around. There were no toys or activities or water bowls but we brought all of our own so this was fine. Nonetheless Cooper was pretty bored and super hot so after about 30 minutes or so we decided to try the indoor training room. However Kerry was using the room and had the large door open while she was loading and unloading her van. So we went back to the field and about 30 minutes later went back to check out the indoor training room and Kerry was still working there. We had pretty much run out of things to do at this point so thought we'd try the fenced in training yard. After sniffing around for 5 minutes Cooper found a spot that had clearly been pottied on before and began to lift his leg so I ran him out of there before he could go. Kerry was still in the training room and we just didn't really have anywhere else to go so we packed it up and left. We paid for 2 hours but left after 1 hour, if even. Maybe if Kerry hadn't been using the indoor area so we could have explored that a bit more our experience might have been different...but honestly I don't think we'll be back. This place might be better for an obsessive ball chaser or smaller dog....the big field would probably be excellent for either of those. Please be aware, there are a lot of dogs on this property...they are totally secure away from the Sniffspots and cannot be seen but can definitely be heard. My Cooper was not bothered by them at all but a more reactive dog might be affected.Susan D.

Your rental of Southern Training Center includes access to three areas: 1) a large fully fenced field, 2) an even larger unfenced field and 3) our indoor training center. We provide coffee and a restroom for our guests as well.

I’ve worked with dogs since 1984. Trained over a hundred dogs. Titled over 20 dogs in obedience, rally and schutzhund. AKC CGC evaluators and retrained dogs for rehoming for rescues.

Please come and let your dogs run and play on our little piece of heaven! Feel free to bring a book or laptop and enjoy yourself on our covered back patio area while your dog/s enjoy the fully fenced property. Bring a few supplies, and enjoy a campfire in the fire-pit if you wish as well. Launch a ball from one end of the field to the other, watch the chickens peck and scratch, or simply enjoy the beautiful surroundings in a fully fenced, dog friendly area.
