Please be aware that many residents have off-leash dogs. You may run into one. If you see a dog bounding at you that looks like a wolf with brown markings (and IS NOT barking) … that’s just Sue. She loves everyone and all animals. Sometimes she forgets that people aren’t trying to visit her. Feel free to tell her to go home, or say hi if you’d like. She might try to join your pack though. Please do not take her home. She is owned 😆 If you see black and tan Aussie mix— that is Sky and she’s most likely barking at you because she’s scared of new humans on the mountain. (My neighbors dog) If you attempt to befriend her, she will indeed become your friend… but I must warn you…this is a huge mistake. Once friends, she will attempt to herd your dogs 😆 feel free to tell her to go home.

Description

A beautiful property in Ruidoso that overlooks the snowy mountains of Alto, and Gavilan Canyon. 12 acres that starts at the bottom of the canyon and ends at the peak. The bottom area, by the entrance gate, is flat and wheelchair accessible although a bit on the rocky/uneven side. We are currently building an agility course at the top of the property, but for now there are many obstacles including tunnels, jumps, balancing, and climbing. The gravel road is a beautiful path from the start of our park to the end. Please no vehicles. Watch your footing. This is a hiking road, it is currently not level due to the recent summer storms washing out many parts. You may come upon deer, elk, wild horses, foxes, rabbits, blue jays, woodpeckers, and a ton more. There is a fully fenced yard at the top and a smaller fenced yard beside it. You can combine both fenced areas with the gate open, or use them separately. (Separate booking) Clean dog toys, a trash receptacle, complementary dog bags, and anything else you need is at the entrance, behind the gate.

Watch your step! Once you decide where you want to explore, pretty quickly the walk will become non-wheelchair accessible. Other than the entry area, this property is not a flat or graded walk. There are trip hazards everywhere for humans who take the washed out road as the hiking path. I do not recommend coming here during rain. Tall grass/dried grass is prominent throughout tree-lined hikes, when not on the washed out road. I advise long pants, closed toed shoes, and crew or taller socks. Ive walked it in sandals and shorts with no injury…It’s just not super fun. 1/10 would not recommend. My dogs have never gotten a tick here. But I’m sure they exist in some number 🤷🏻‍♀️ Be on the lookout for wild animals such as elk, horses, and deer. Beautiful birdwatching spot with many beautiful species of woodpeckers, blue jays, songbirds, and more. We have recently (April 2025) seen a few turkeys here.
