My name is Seth and I've been a lifelong dog owner. I've always loved getting out for adventures and finding new spots to let dogs romp off leash. My dogs Boss and Kona were temperamental with other dogs so it was always important to find safe spots to let them off leash. They were the inspiration for my fenced in backyard! Kona passed in September 2022 and Boss passed in July 2023, so I've opened up the space to those who might need a fenced in area to help their dog(s) expend that energy! We believe a tired dog is a happy dog, and an even happier owner 😉

Welcome to our quiet, country yard—formerly a goat pen! This fully fenced 3,690 sq. ft. space is located at the end of a dead-end road in beautiful Cumberland, Maine. It’s perfect for dogs who love to sniff, explore, and run off-leash in a peaceful rural setting. The yard is enclosed with a 3-foot-high wire livestock fence (1 ft x 7 in spacing between wires), which offers a safe environment for most dogs, though it may not be suitable for very small pups or high jumpers without supervision. The space is adjacent to a quiet street where neighbors sometimes walk their dogs, so your pup might spot some friendly passersby. Whether your dog wants to romp, relax, or just enjoy some new smells, this spacious and serene spot offers a unique place to play and unwind. Come enjoy the fresh Maine air!

About the Pooch Playground: Located on a scenic working farm (you may see tractors or people at a distance), this fully enclosed ¼-acre space sits beside a small woodland, offering peace and privacy. The nearby field is preserved for wildlife. The perimeter of the spot is left a bit wild, so it is more enriching for dogs. Grass Care: We mow weekly on the highest setting—grass stays longer than a golf course but never over ankle height. This protects the lawn from wear and dog urine. We also leave small "islands" of taller grass for sniffing fun. Shade & Seating: There isn’t much natural shade. From about 11:00 AM on, there is shade along the fence line closest to the woods. Feel free to move the chairs to a shady spot if needed. Frisbees: Free to take home! Pool Info: The water may look cloudy due to an algae inhibitor and barley treatment—it’s safe for dogs. Other Notes: We do morning and evening chores, so you may see us around. The garden, house, and barn are far enough away that it's rarely a disruption. Lost a toy in the tall grass? All unfenced, peninsula provides natural barrier, very private Gravel road, bring sturdy shoes for walk down and back, needs to be graded after recent rain Recommend SUV or truck if driving down the hill! If sedan, park at top and walk down (although our sedan does make it down FYI)
