This unique spot just east of downtown San Antonio is a fully fenced large back yard, and smaller side yard, on one of the 7 largest lots (0.37 acre) in Dignowity Hill. The yards take up over half the property. The yards are wildscaped with native plants, rain gardens, and young trees. The gardens and plants vary a lot from season to season, as you can see in photos. There are lots of places for your dogs to run and explore, and to romp through plants and grasses. Lots of sticks to play with, as we tend to leave them where they fall. Our own 6 dogs and 2 foster dogs call this back yard home; and they are not small dogs. Consider the yard dog-tested and dog-approved. The side yard can be closed off as a separate smaller area if you have a puppy, for example, that you only want to have roam of a smaller area. There is a lot of shade in the side yard. There is seating here and there throughout the yards and we leave a couple of folding chairs at the gate that you are welcome to use. If you are looking for a well-manicured space, please know that this will not be your style. :) There is a flat footpath of crushed granite that was put down several years ago. It’s not perfect, but it’s lovely. It’s 0.01 miles around. If wildflowers grow up in the middle of the path; that is where we tend to leave them, so please watch your step. As long as you do not allow your dog(s) to dig up the plants, or to eat them, they aren’t going to hurt anything by rough running and playing! So don’t worry! As you enter you will see a blue plastic kiddie pool. Feel free to use the hose to fill it. If you would empty it and give it a quick rinse after, we would appreciate it! And help yourself to whatever drinks are in the cooler outside the gate! Enjoy! Logistical info: Enter through the front gate and latch it behind you. Follow the sidewalk to the back right of the house. Proceed down the driveway toward the garage and you will see the gate to the back yard to your left. Again, please be certain to close and lock the gate behind you. The metal gate is about 4 1/4 ft tall (see photos. The other fencing is 6 ft wood privacy fence with subterranean chicken wire to keep our dog in who likes to dig under.
