55You can pretend that you have your own private forest with a crew that maintains the trails for you! If you have any thoughts that you'd like to forget, this is the place to go.
My dog was ecstatic and we had a blast watching her run non-stop at full tilt and hunt with abandon. The terrain, trees, and vegetation gave her an excellent workout.
Much work has been done to make the trails easy to negotiate by constant upkeep and by using straw and other materials for great footing.
Despite just finishing record-breaking rain, it was still good to go. It was the day after the atmospheric river flooded Whatcom County (rain stopped yesterday afternoon; flooding and many roads closed) and it was no problem to visit. We luckily don't live near closed roads.
We were removed from everyday suburbia to a green, quiet, private retreat. The many interesting and winding trails over undulating terrain made for constant interest. Traversing the paths and negotiating the various water features keep your attention from wandering.
At the moment there are some pools of water that can be passed through within just several paces. Rubber calf boots worked well. If you don't want to wade, you can go around, or, reverse for just a bit and follow yet another trail. The rest was wet trail covered with leaves. At this time of year and under these current conditions, you'll want boots, preferably waterproof.
What a great escape. We'll be back.C W.

55Had a great time! Will be back soon. Everything you could need is provided. We spent the first half playing fetch and the second half wandering around the wooded area. It was wonderful and my dogs had a great time. The dogs living on the property alerted at our arrival but were otherwise angelic and didn’t bother us at all. Thanks! See you again soon. Lauren V.

55This was an absolutely wonderful experience. In addition to the very large field the dogs can play in, there are woods with marked trails. The ability to take dogs out without the stress of coming across other dogs was worth every penny! The attention to detail with welcoming touches was such a nice surprise. A chuck it is available to borrow (stay to the right of the field to avoid some depressions), many dog poop bag dispensers throughout the trails and field. Water available for dogs, chairs and benches for sitting several places along the wooded trails...just lovely. We will be regular visitors for sure! Although we didnt bring one of our reactive dogs this visit, it is an excellent sniff spot for reactive dogs!Tracy N.

55It has been years since I've been able to enjoy a stress free off leash walk with my girl Prudence and that is exactly what Nature lovers, frisbee & chuck-it paradise provided! This is an ideal spot for fearful or reactive dogs. We did a warm up lap of the fully fenced field before heading into the wooded, fully fenced, trail system then back to the field for a cool down lap.
Barb was a lovely host, met us as soon as we pulled in and gave us a quick over view of the property, pointing out the best areas in the field for playing fetch, and the entrance to the trail system. Chuck it, water station, and poo station are provided by the host. The trail system is nicely marked with maps and flags though it is easy to go off the beaten path and find your way back.
There is a dog across the street that you can hear bark but you cannot see him. My reactive girl didn't have a problem with it until we tried walking the fence line along the street. She was easy to redirect but if you think it may be challenging for your dog to not engage in the fence barking I would avoid walking that section of the field.
There were 3 marked parking spaces for this sniffspot making it easy to meet up with others. I'm excited to make this a regular walk for my pups as it's only 7 minutes from my house. But even for my dog reactive clients in Bellingham it is well worth the adventure!Amber T.

55This sniffspot is huge and obviously well cared for by the host! We came after the week of nonstop rain, and were well prepared for it to be a bit wet (hiking boots, towels). Fun was had by all, and our pup loved the big field and running around the trails. Great place to practice training! Host was super quick to respond to messages and greeted us for our first visit. Absolutely worth the road trip and looking forward to visiting again (especially after some snow or in the summer!) The fencing around the field was well enforced and honestly the property is so large I didn’t see the plastic snow fencing on the sides of the woods but the host had walked it recently and seemed to often be checking it for any small rodent holes (reassuring to me as my dog is not reactive but is a bolter!) overall, loved this spot! A side note for any dogs that are noise reactive - there was a ‘shooting range’ in the distance that you could hear but my dog didn’t mind at all. Nikki T.

55This truly is a wonderland for dogs. A large, wide open and secure field with wooded trails that has moss-covered trees and muddy areas. A perfect place for dogs to run, hop and sniff. Barb is very accommodating and the area begins with a watering hole and cooler stocked with human refreshments. She has pup supplies: Chuck It launchers, dog bowls, poop bags, trash cans etc. There are marshy areas, so proper foot attire is a must. We came prepared with old towels, but luckily the field naturally wiped off a lot of the mud. We cannot wait to return and we know that Yuri will whimper with excitement when we pull up to Barb’s place! Thank you!!Shawna R.

55What a wonderful spot to take your dogs. There is a huge open field, trails through the woods, dog toys, water, and spots to rest. It's a lovely spot to take in nature for humans as well. It can be a little muddy in the woods but the host has put down plenty of hay in any wet spots. I would go out of my way to come back and visit again. Our two dogs got so much energy out they will probably be sleeping for the next two days!! Thanks for the great spot!Kaylen B.

55GREAT SPOT! Loved getting to meet the owner of the property before using. Loved the trails, and I can’t wait to return to this spot in the summer time. I highly recommend this spot, especially for reactive dogs such as mine. He takes a bit to meet new people and doesn’t like being approached by large men, but he loves hikes and trails. Well the trails throughout whatcom county tend to get crowded quick, with this spot we really got the best of both worlds. We will definitely be returning!!!Anikah R.

55The best of both worlds: a massive open field for fetching games and a large forested area with trails for hiking. Nice touches are maps posted on the trails, clear trail markers, parking, and special entrance with a sniffspot sign. There is also a water station with supplies and trash bins. Barb is a lovely, friendly host who knows dogs. One thing to watch out for: some areas of the field have ruts and holes that may trip up your doggo so do a walk around first to identify those sections. Overall a top notch sniffspot and my dog loved every minute.Mark H.

55This spot and it’s parking was easy to find, Barb was friendly and greeted me as soon as we arrived to gave the general guidelines.
The main gate opens into a very large grassy field then leads into wooded trails, where there is also water and dog bowls available along with a map and bucket for dog poop. The trails themselves are well marked and very easy to navigate (but still with varied terrain to make it interesting for dogs), but bring your boots with good traction for the rainy season!
Towards the back of the woods there is snow fencing and the lowest point as stated is 4ft, so keep that in mind if you have an extreme escape artist, but otherwise the entire property is fenced and appeared safe for the vast majority of dogs.
The dog I brought with me had an absolutely wonderful time running for the entire hour, and very much enjoyed herself. Highly recommended!Sarah S.

55My dogs and I had such a great time! As this was our first visit, Barb met us on arrival and showed me where everything was and was incredibly welcoming and kind. It was obvious how much she loves dogs and how excited she is to share her beautiful property with others.
My dogs are generally not reactive, but one is deaf and visually limited so safe fencing is a must if I let him off leash. I felt very secure seeing the fencing here- both around the fields and the woods. If you do have a reactive pup, the only time we heard another dog was when the neighbor dog barked but could not be seen. Barb had pointed out the areas and paths which are more well used and tend to be less soggy, but I actually found the whole area to be much better draining than expected given the recent rain. That being said, gore tex trail shoes kept my feet totally dry. Others might prefer boots. The whole field was very well mowed and maintained. The wooded trails were easy to navigate and well marked, even with a map, water station and seating, plus an additional can for poop bags.
My dogs aren't fetchers but Barb even provided a chuck it! We worked a little on recall but mainly it was a perfect hour spent running, sniffing, and enjoying free time with my dogs without worrying about other people or dogs showing up (like at the dog park) or my deaf dog not being safe. I will absolutely be booking again!MARY A.

FAQ about our New Westminster dog fields
Are dog fields safe?
If you are looking for an adventure, but also looking for safety, Sniffspot dog fields are a great option. While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, distracted dog owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private space for just you and doggy friends you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). Especially for training, privacy is ideal. Contrary to public dog parks, all Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog for off leash exercise or outdoor training. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars, while public dog parks often do not even have verified reviews. All payment is done securely online by credit card in a few simple clicks.
All park rental information is available online. Start by filtering parks by fencing, size and distractions, to find a private spot that works for your dog. If your dog has poor recall, you can visit one of our secure fields. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog fields where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can review the details of the listing to make sure it works as your desired activity space, for example, safe dog exercise, dog training, a stress-free adventure with your furry friend or even a puppy event. You can even check the park amenities chart for amenities such as indoor training facilities, agility field, synthetic turf, exercise balls or field parking availability in advance. If inclement weather is an issue or poor field conditions, you can reschedule your visit up to 2 hours in advance.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot dog field?
We require that all four-legged friends have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not allow dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules. Make sure to check host rules before visiting to ensure, for instance, that you are following allowable sports activities rules and any special events rules.
Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot field at the same time as me?
No. Facility rentals are for private play time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the area during visits, so this is perfect for a private adventure for you and your doggie friends, and perhaps a human friend. Hosts understand that many guests have dogs in training and are nervous owners. So when you book a Sniffspot dog field you have the entire private spot to yourself. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between time slots so you will not run into other guest dogs or a previous person when coming or leaving in the field parking area. Some hosts may have multiple fields, but there is always a buffer between fields.
How much do Sniffspot fields cost?
Dog fields in the New Westminster area range from $4.0 and $20.0. The least expensive dog field is A & C's Private Dog Park In Surrey. The most expensive dog field is Daynakin Large & Giant Breed Dog Care. Each host sets their own price, so you can check the price on the specific Sniffspot dog park listing.
