55Adoptable Bear was smiling from ear to ear the entire time! He loved being able to run & sniff and play with toys and we really appreciated the fenced area since he can be a bit of an escape artist. 😏 Thank you again! 🐾 💙Jenny r.

55Lovely spot; the dog and i ran around in the well-stocked fenced area for awhile then walked around the mowed area. We both enjoyed the visit. Everything a person and their dog need for an enjoyable outing. Jeanine K.

55Park by the Pond is a hidden gem. We had such a great experience! Kayla was quick to answer my pre-booking questions & so very kind.
The location was easy to find, the fence secure, and so much room for the pups to race around. It was like playing in a meadow!
The toys, treats, waste bags, large bowl of continuous water & large covered trash can were much appreciated.
We left with two tired but happy dogs. 🙂
We highly recommend this SniffSpot. Jenny r.

55This place was perfect and so many nice details provided by the host! There was a table by the parking area on the way to the trail that supplied fresh water, toys, treats, sunscreen and bug spray! I was so glad to see the bug spray because I forgot mine. The gently sloping grassy field was perfect for the dogs to run around, eat grass and search for rabbits to chase... although Luna was disappointed that she didn't find any. Lol. We explored the woods at the back of the field and found some deer bones and a foreleg but the dogs weren't interested... they just wanted to explore. The woods are a little hard to get around in there... a lot of low branches, not really a trail or anything but if you're into bushwacking a little it's fine. We spent most of our time in the field though. There were a couple folding chairs in different spots which were great to take a break and let the dogs take their time playing. The little baby pool was awesome for the dogs to cool off and get a drink as we did laps around the field. The host thought of everything and made our time perfect!
Just beware during tick season, as noted in the property description. We did have several ticks on us, which I'm used to since we do a lot of hiking, but some people might not want to deal with it. I felt it was worth the tradeoff for the dogs to have such a fun offleash time. (If it were my property, I'd probably get some chickens to clear the area of ticks).
While the property isn't fully fenced per the description, there is a nice boundary of trees and my dogs have great recall so it was easy to keep them in the designated space. We will definitely return again! The dogs loved it!Heather T.

FAQ About Wausau Dog Parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 134% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Wausau area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 18 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 59 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
