Welcome to our Sniffspot area in Sturbridge (Fiskdale) MA. We are excited to provide an off leash play space for your furry bestie. Conveniently located close to the Massachusetts Turnpike and Rte 84. The Sniffspot area is in a quiet residential, wooded area. There is a sportsman's club a ways down the road, and if there is an event, occasionally, the range can be audible. Most dogs have been completely unbothered by it. While I usually require advance notice, if you message me, and I'm able to immediately respond, I may be able to accommodate last minute reservations. Fenced in backyard with bunnies, squirrels, and chipmunks for your dog to sniff out. We rotate out sensory stations and different obstacles and dog toys depending on the season and notice. We just added a dog rope tug that is attached to our tree! Feel free to message us and request something specific. We have sprinklers, kiddie pool, splash pad, mini-trampoline, a host of different balls, long lines, and enrichment feeders. We also have laminated games and tricks to teach your dog! Not all games and activities are out all the time to give dogs room to run! Request anything you want to see in specific. We have a poop scooper, first aid kit, toys for children, and a small trash can as well as water bowl at the ready and chairs for the humans. Gazebo is currently down because a storm broke it, but will be up again soon. Our gazebo and outdoor couch is back up and running. Feel free to uncover and use if you like. If notice is given we could set up an umbrella for extra shade extra chairs, water bowl, and or treats for dog. Check picture 5 for the toys that are normally out and require no notice: nerf dog flyer frisbee, Chuck it with different balls, jollyball (10”), Kong Twistz ball, small dog ball, spring pole dog rope toy, and, tennis ball launcher (football looking thing you step on). Hey dogs and their humans… It’s time to come play at Sammy’s Playground, a private dog park for just you and your pups (there will not be any other dogs present during your visit). There’s lots to do for each and every one of you. With the entire 0.5-acre backyard fully enclosed by a new’ish and secure chain-link fence (Fall 2022), your pups are free to safely roam, sniff, fetch and run to their hearts’ delight. And, wow… you are surely going to love watching them go!! Zoom-Zoom. Pool… Yup, we have a pool! Is your pup a swimmer? Or a swimmer wanna be? Our pool is the perfect spot to splish-splash away! Our website provides all the details, as an Extra, with plenty of photos showing what to expect, which includes towels and life vests. NOTE: pool use is an Extra flat fee, as listed in the Extras section. Consider this added cost when booking for your visit. The areas along the perimeter of the yard are wooded and make for fun pathways for explorations. The central portion of the yard is sloped and open. This makes for plenty of romping and heavy-duty running- including long throws of a ball or a frisbee. We have a tennis ball thrower. Check out all of the photos and read the accompanying descriptions to get a better idea of how Sammy’s Playground will appeal to you and your furry friends!! And don’t worry about the yard (too much). There’s divots and mounds all around, no manicured lawns when dogs are at play. Go for it guys… Enjoy!! And, during off-season, the pool cover is elephant and dog proof. The dogs are allowed on the pool cover. It’s our hope that we do our absolute best to provide our Guests with the best experience each time they come over AND that our Guests remain as great as each have been - that we can continue to avoid any reason to raise our hourly rate. SniffSpot suggests we list Sammy’s Playground at $20/hour. We are uncomfortable with doing this, because it goes against the spirit of our objective for Sammy’s Playground in the first place: providing a safe and secure environment for dogs of all kinds to enjoy off-leash “true-dog” experiences with their loving humans. Barking IS allowed. (Be mindful of excessive barking for our continued peace with our neighbors though) 🐾 We accept donations of dog food, p-pads and medications for the all-dog rescue organization, PAWS New England. PawsNewEngland.com is where you can find information about fostering, donating, adopting or other ways to support this amazing group. They save over 1,000 dogs per year. ——- NOTE: to open the gate, simply reach over the top to find the key. Twist/turn the key until it stops. Then, lift the knob on top of the gate and push the gate open… you’re in! The gate automatically closes behind you. Please confirm that it has engaged into the closed position and then turn the key to lock yourself in. DO NOT REMOVE THE KEY. Confirm that you have locked yourself in by seeing the little red dot and not being able to lift the knob. The photos section includes views of the gate, key and lock. MUST: when you leave, lock the gate. Doubly ensure that you have done so by lifting the knob.

I reset the equipment every 2-3 weeks. If you’re not sure if the course map is current just ask! To access the agility field: Please follow the driveway straight back past the detached garage. There is a gravel road to take you back to the sniffspot. Please park along the fence line of the field in the grass- do NOT park on the gravel road! *If you have never taken agility classes or competed in agility before, please consider setting up a private lesson to ensure safety for you and your dog! Info can be found in the last picture in the listing. Puppies under a year should not be jumping too high or too repeatedly, and the larger pieces of equipment are dangerous for a dog to dismount improperly. And please, no humans on the equipment!* If you move or change the heights of any jumps, please put them back how you found them before you leave! Do not move the larger pieces of equipment (weave poles, dogwalk, a-frame, or teeter). AKC Regulation a-frame, teeter, dogwalk, and jumps from Max200. MAD Agility channel weaves. Saloon door style tire and tunnels from Clean Run. Please potty your dogs outside of the agility field! Keep your dogs leashed for safety as it is not fully fenced outside of the agility field and keep your eyes peeled for poison ivy! Please stay out of the neighbor’s property and out of the fenced in yard close to the house. It is low tech back there. There is no electricity or running water. Gates are secured with bungees for now until permanent posts & latches are installed. Please bring water, bug spray, sunscreen, proper footwear, etc. I do my best to keep the field as manicured as possible, but it is the out of doors so nothing is ever perfect! The pine trees provide lovely shade, but they do also provide pinecones and twigs. Give the space a once over to ensure there is nothing pokey on you or your dog’s path! Be nice to the neighbors! And have fun!

Wide open grassy spaces, gentle hills, mossy areas, trees and bushes to explore, a small water feature, sunny and shady spots! We have a nice patio area with a variety of seating and tables. There is a hose for filling up dog bowls (please just ensure it is turned back off!). At the back of the yard, there is a gate leading out into woods/conservation area that can also be explored. There is an exit door at the back and front. We have a back deck with sectional seating, gas fire pit, dining table and Blackstone grill for your use if you would like. There is an umbrella for shade as well as a wood fire pit in the back. We have a hose hookup and sprinkler as well. There are doggy bags in the wire basket and a pooper scooper by the stairs.
