We followed the powerline path downhill to the train tracks and then followed the ATV trail uphill through the woods back to the car. This worked out nicely since it was less steep on the way back, although there were a couple downed trees to climb over, which was no problem for us. We couldn't tell if there were more trails through the woods, but that would be fun as well! For hikers, our loop was 1.1 miles with 174 ft ascent, mostly 13-15° grade on the way down, and mostly 5-7° grade on the way back up. You could probably dodge them all together, maybe… but they are close enough that they are noticeable to vigilant dogs. Then there’s a pond just a bit past that, which is host to loud frogs. Not a huge deal unless you have a noise sensitive dog. This was my 1yr old Doberman’s first visit to “the countryside”. She was suspicious of the ponies and thought I was INSANE for wanting to walk closer to the sound of death that frogs *clearly* signify. There were too many new things for the kind of dog she is to be able to let loose and enjoy. We will definitely be back as this was an excellent training opportunity in a safe place!Jessica C.
