55This is an amazing spot! Open space to run, short trails under beautiful trees, and a very considerate host. He left a sprinkler on for us to play in and filled a doggie pool with a few inches of water to give our pups an opportunity to splash around. He also left toys out as well as a water bowl. We will definitely be returning!Victoria M.

55Took my newly rescued pup (3 weeks ago) with my old guy thinking they'd run and play, but somehow his outside chill and explore only vibes rubbed off on her.
Now I have 2 boring outside dogs....good in the bad of that is I know they'll do great on our trip to mountains in a few months. Now I need to find something for the new girl's motion sickness.Heather G.

55I am giving this five stars because I think the Sniffspot was well described and our dogs had the time of their lives, but I am not sure it was the best place for us. My perspective is an owner with two dogs - a hound (read: stubborn with a nose that’ll get him in trouble) and a terrier/shepherd (read: high prey drive and curious). I hope this review contains information that will be helpful in deciding if this Sniffspot is the best for you and your dog(s).
Pros:
- communication. Tim gave us all the information we needed days in advance. He answered our questions in a timely manner, which we greatly appreciated.
- location. Conveniently located, but also tucked away. We thought it was a good compromise. We heard cars, but no other animals or people.
- space. We loved the amount of space our dogs had to run, sniff, and play.
- accessories. Our dog loved the pool, which also doubled as our other dog’s water bowl. lol. There were other toys to play with, but we didn’t use them this time.
- shade. There were so many places to stand to enjoy the shade. It was a refreshing break from the Florida heat.
Things to Consider:
- security. When you pull into the place, you’ll turn left. Your best bet is to keep behind the house because the fencing is more secure. However, there’s not a barrier to physically keep your dog behind the house. They have to have good recall. Even with our dog, who has decent recall, the mailman was too exciting for him and he slipped through the fence. The issue is really that my dog’s recall isn’t perfect, but something to consider when you decide to book.
We also scanned the perimeter and found some of the fencing to be less secure than other parts. Some of the fencing was leaning, some of it was lower (like 3 feet) and I think there was even a small gap in the back. Given the dogs we have, I was nervous the entire time and had to follow them around.
I also think dogs can get under the house. I’m not sure if they can go underneath it all the way, but when our hound gets hot, he looks for shade and we caught him trying to go under the house.
- hard to follow our dogs. We loved the wooded aspect, but for some reason I thought the main path extended farther than it did. You could walk it for a minute, and then you had to choose which way into the woodsy part you wanted to go. Our dogs love going into the ferns, palms, and as deep into the woods as they could. However, it was hard for me to follow them into the woods, so I spent lots of time listening for movement and hoping they didn’t move from where I thought they would be.
- bugs. You’ll definitely need bug spray. We only walked through a couple spider webs, but the mosquitoes loved us.
I think that’s the feedback we have. This place is wonderful and peaceful, and great for so many dogs! It was just difficult for me to enjoy the space with our dogs needs, so I hope this review helps others make an informed decision.Jenna S.

55Great sniffspot! This was our first time using Sniffspot and we were very happy! Our dogs were in heaven running around this property. We did a same day visit (scheduled less than 2 hours out) and had no issues. There wasn’t any water readily available for the dogs but I texted Tim who promptly replied and was happy to share how to turn on the hose (they were not home so completely understandable!).
Only advice would be if going late in the evening to bring bug spray! Typical Florida! Will return again! LOVED IT! Stephanie A.

55Wish I had gotten pictures but it was drizzling on and off. Our dogs had a blast exploring and running around. My dog enjoyed the doggy pool that was made available to us as well. I loved all the little natural "obstacles" made from cut trees and other things. It is wooded so mosquitoes are a thing. They weren't bad at all but will probably bring some OFF spray next time. FAQ about our Mount Dora dog parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 97% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Mount Dora area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 312 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 44 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
