It appears that my testimonial may not have gone through. So I am writing again. What I love most about Golden Rescue South Florida is their unconditional love of all of the goldens they rescue, locally and internationally with no geographic boundaries, no matter the health status nor how dire the circumstances; they never say no to a golden in need. Additionally, the harmony of their superb leadership team--effective and with diverse expertise, gifts and talents--is reflected in the mutually supportive and collaborative relationships they have developed not only among themselves, but with the GRSF family: staff, volunteers, fosters, adopters, and the tremendous support they generate. As the beneficiary of their Breeder Rescue Mission, fostering to adopt a beautiful, loving retired breeder mom, I am profoundly grateful for the extraordinary and unwavering support of the GRSF team, open lines of communication throughout the process, effective guidance, and outstanding online resources they provided, all of which helped us to prepare ourselves and our home and property to receive our golden and respond effectively to issues as they arise. The GRSF team went above and beyond for us and our golden girl. Their website and facebook page are delightful, with charming and compelling posts of dogs available for adoption, capturing the essence of the dogs and their needs so as to attract and select suitable individuals and families to foster and/or adopt, as well as providing updates on facebook of selected rescues. GRSF is the best of the best of rescues due to its leadership and the synergy created to build a strong, devoted, harmonious GRSF family, providing loving homes to goldens in need and receiving boundless love in return from those goldens. Thank you with love and profound gratitude.

Adoption Policy

How To AdoptADOPTION APPLICATION‚ Adopting a rescued Golden Retriever could be one of the most rewarding things you do in life! It's also a big decision with many considerations. It's a long-term commitment requiring the support and help of all members of your family. As a rescue organization, we help Goldens who need a new beginning. There are many factors that we must consider before matching a dog with a family. Each story is different, some are mistreated or neglected, abandoned, or surrendered, some rescued from dire and horrific conditions. In all situations they have been let down by humans therefore we must prioritize finding the dog the best homes vs. finding the perfect pet for you. The first step in the adoption process is to complete the ADOPTION APPLICATION, followed by a home visit.

"For the past week, my husband and I have been fostering to adopt a 5-year-old retired breeder mom from an Amish breeder farm in Ohio who had just arrived from a two-day transport with other dogs to southeast Florida. GRSF has been extraordinary throughout the entire process, from posting her availability (writing about all the available dogs in an engaging, charming style that captures their essence, circumstances and needs), responding quickly to our interest in her, patiently answering our many questions, sending us her only available medical record, as requested, which was from the spay surgery and vaccinations they had arranged and paid for, keeping open lines of communication by phone/text/email, giving us time (typically 24 hours) to make an infirmed decision, giving her a bath upon arrival with a natural tick and flea shampoo and checking her for ticks and fleas, as I had requested, sending us online resources that are comprehensive and helpful for persons adopting a dog, and talking on the phone to give us invaluable guidance in addressing issues—referring us to the individual on their team with the requisite expertise to best respond. Their leadership is superb. We deeply appreciate their unwavering support, wise counsel, and open lines of communication. We will be officially adopting our beloved dog this week with profound gratitude to GRSF for her and for rescuing her and the many dogs from the Breeder Rescue Mission in the US and internationally. We have been supporters, as we love golden retrievers, and GRSF never says no to rescuing a dog in need, no matter how dire their circumstances, their health status, nor where they are in the world. GRSF is the very best of the best, going above and beyond for the dogs and the persons and families who foster and adopt them."

"We got our dog Roxy from GRSF- Golden Rescue South Florida last May. They are the most amazing organization. Roxy was one of many dogs rescued from an Iowa puppy mill where the dogs were severely mistreated . Roxy was used and abused as a breeder dog. Roxy now has a loving home and has mended our hearts following the loss of our beloved golden retriever Belle. She has saved us. Not only have we gained a loving companion in our Roxy, but we also gained a best friend (who has become like family to us) in her beautiful ( inside & out) foster mom, Leslie. Golden Rescue South Florida deserves this award!"

"We have had 4 dogs from GRSF rescue us over the last 15 years. I have NEVER seen such dedication and love for their charges as I have witnessed in working with everyone at GRSF! The picking dogs up in obscure places, working with the dogs from out of the country, doing house checks for the safety and happiness of dogs, calling potential fosters and adoptees at any time, fostering dogs themselves, checking up, etc.... the list goes on!!!! We have straight out adopted two pups (Paddy & Max), were a foster fail to another (Sullivan) and then had a dog owner decide she didn't want to give her baby (Rosie) up for free but had already made the connection with GRSF and we were all frightened of who she would sell her to that we stepped in and paid for brought Rosie home. Lisa, LeeAnn, Denise and others behind the the scenes have filled our house with love, activity and memories. The website and facebook pages (I'm not on any other social media sites) that they have created and maintain keep their followers informed but have also built a community around the work they do and the dogs we love. I have entrusted the teams so much that I constantly refer other potential adoptees to them and know that at least 1 of my neighbors also rescued a golden from this amazing association. GRSF is the top of the top and I know that all fosters, adoptees and adopters that have worked with this team would agree!!"

"I am so thankful for GSFR; they initially helped me when I had to make the heart wrenching decision to surrender my 12 year old golden. My son had a life altering accident while in the Navy, and as this turned our lives upside down and I could no longer take care of my dog. They made sure he went to a wonderful family and lived 3 more great years, Several years later, with my son back on track, I was able to adopt a very sweet dog that had been left on the side of the road. She was wonderful, but sadly died of cancer a year later. I currently have another dog from GSFR, who came from Puerto Rico, and was blind. With their help, we were able to get him cataract surgery and he has regained his sight. He’s a gentle sweet dog that I am so thrilled to have him in my home. I can’t say enough about this wonderful group of volunteers! They passionately care about all the animals, and other very best in matching them with the perfect family for the very best outcome for all."
