Service areas:

Sugar Land, Fort Bend County, Wharton, Fort Bend, Harris, Matagorda, and Galveston.

Lucky Penny Rox Rescue (LPRR) is a foster-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in Fort Bend County, TX, but we operate in many surrounding counties, including Wharton, Fort Bend, Harris, Matagorda, and Galveston. We believe in rehab and second chances. We are a small, southern rescue with a heart as big as Texas! We do not discriminate when taking cats and dogs into our homes as long as we have funds and fosters to accommodate them. We aim to find each animal a home as quickly as possible, but only after their foster home has learned their needs. Our ultimate goal is to find forever homes that are a perfect fit for the animal and the human family. Please join us in rescuing unwanted animals and educating the public about spay/neutering and the millions of unnecessary euthanasias that happen every year.

Adoption Policy

The Adoption Process PLEASE NOTE: OUR FULL APPLICATION PROCESS CAN TAKE ONE WEEK LPRR is devoted to placing our animals in forever homes. We want them to have the best chance of never being dumped, neglected, or abused again. We rehabilitate them to get them healthy and ready for your home. We want adoptions to work out for everyone involved. With that said, if for any reason, your situation changes after adoption and the rescue animal can no longer be homed with you and your family, just contact us. It does not matter if it has been 1 month or 10 years. We will gladly take them in and look for another suitable home. Life happens and, while we hope all the animals we place stay in their new homes forever, we will certainly understand and do what is best for the animal. In-State Adoption Process We encourage you to attend our events and meet some of our adoptable friends. Feel free to contact us prior to an event if you are interested in a specific animal so we can try to make sure they are present at the event. We encourage applications at the event, but this does not guarantee that you will be approved on site. We review all application within 1-2 days and will let you know if we have anymore questions. No animal ever leaves directly from the event. If the foster or you cannot make it to an event and you would like to meet the your potential new family member ASAP, we can schedule a meet and greet! An application and home check will need to be done in advance of any meet and greet. Following a positive meet and greet, a sleepover and be scheduled. A sleepover trial period can last up to 7 days to make sure the animal is the best fit for your home. Please contact us for more info. If you are looking for the meet and greet or sleepover contracts, please click here. Why do we require an approved adoption application & home check before a meet and greet or sleepover? 1. To learn about you, your family, and home to ensure the animal selected would be the best match. 2. We send our fosters and volunteers to your home and we need to make sure they will be safe during their visit. Things to consider during a meet and greet or sleepover: 1. The Rescue maintains ownership of the animal at all times. We will provide supplies that must be returned to the rescue at the end of the trial period regardless of whether you adopt the animal. Supplies generally are a crate/kennel, collar, harness, leash, food, bedding, and favorite toys. If you decide to adopt, there is an Adoption Contract and Adoption Fee. Dogs are $175 and Cats are $125. This covers vaccinations including rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. We do not charge for any additional expenses we incurred for treating any illnesses or injuries our animals may have had to get them ready for adoption. (SEE: what does it cost to save a life?) IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Our general response time is 24-36 hours, Monday - Friday. We operate entirely on a volunteer basis. The adoption process can take up to a week, including the application, any additional questions, home checks, etc. Thank you for understanding and we look forward to helping you find your perfect forever family member. ADOPTION FEES ARE TO BE PAID IN FULL. NO PAYMENT PLANS. Out of State Adoption Process If you're an out of state adopter, the process is slightly modified. We try to give as much info as we can online, including pictures and videos. If you are interested in any animal posted online, we ask that you fill out the application prior to requesting additional photos, videos, etc. so that we can get to know more about you and your needs. The information you share with us is NEVER shared with a third party and is solely used for the purpose of adoption. Once we determine your home is a good fit, we schedule an online video chat interview to get a tour of your home. We may also ask for images of your home and additional references. Upon approval of this process, we will move forward with the adoption contract, collecting the adoption fee, and scheduling transport. The out-of-state adoption fee is a flat $500: this covers, kennel, transport costs, and health certificate. We use United Airlines for our air transport to regions in the Pacific Northwest or United Airlines or land transport, such as Pets LLC or Rescue Road Trips, to regions in the Northeast. Most land transport groups do their routes only once or twice a month and have predetermined stops, but always feel free to ask if there's land transport for your area. For smaller animals, such a small dogs and cats, additional modes of transport can be discussed. We know that you're taking a chance adopting out-of-state. Not being able to meet the animal beforehand can feel overwhelming, but we will do our best to accommodate you with any info, pictures, and video that can be acquired. We will make you known of any possible concerns so that you and your family can make an informed decision about adoption. We hope to place the many homeless animals of Houston, TX area into loving homes no matter where those homes may be. PLEASE NOTE OUR FULL APPLICATION PROCESS CAN TAKE A WEEK OR SO WE DO TRY OUR BEST TO EXPEDITE THE PROCESS AS FAST AS POSSIBLE BUT WE DO HAVE FAMILIES & JOBS ETC. Please understand while our application seems complex, it is to ensure the safety of our animals. We put a lot of time and effort into improving their heath, teaching them basic manners, and socializing them with people and other pets. We do not charge extra fees for any illness, injuries, or behavior correction. We do all of this in order for each of them to be ready for their forever homes. We want them to be happy and loved as well as make the best match for you and your family.

How This Family is Affording Their Dream Property Through Renting it Hourly to Dogs

Thousand Oaks, California has been a safe haven for Sniffspot host, Jen, since childhood. Having grown up in busy Santa Barbara, Jen, an introvert from an early age, would seek out solitude and serenity away from tourists attractions and droves of people visiting from elsewhere. “My grandparents own 60 acres about a 30 minute drive from here, and I grew up spending every summer and every holiday visiting them on the ranch,” Jen explained. “In Santa Barbara, we wouldn't go to the beach on the weekend because that's where everybody was, so you'd find places off the beaten path where the tourists weren't. For me, the ranch was just my happy place.”
