The fence was high enough that even with hearing one other dog for just a few minutes, that I believe was the neighbors, our dogs could never actually see them, so it was great. We have big and small dogs and of course our beagle, being a beagle, snuck down under the gate to go down the few basement steps. Once he realized there was absolutely nothing down there for him to get into though he came back up and left it alone.
