55What a yard! Such pretty landscaping, wide open space, and a fun water feature. My dog loved sniffing the flowering trees and bushes. As noted in the listing, there is only a small section below the front gates by the driveway and the front gate on the opposite side of the house that may not be suitable for small or curious dogs. I'd recommend bringing makeshift barriers if you're more cautious.Kara K.

55This was such a magical spot for my older dog to explore, and one of my favorite Sniffspots yet. The different areas of the yard were so exciting for her to run and sniff around. It really brought out the puppy in her. The owners clearly care about their property, and their own dogs must be in heaven! There were some brambles here and there, so I recommend long pants/full cover shoes (as if you're going to the actual woods)Mary G.

55Awesome spot! Securely fenced and a smattering of toys about. No issues with access. We could hear dogs barking inside, but our dogs quickly decided they would rather sniff than bark back and went on to explore the partially wooded yard. Tons of space to play fetch and enough breaks in the line of sight to work on recall.Josie B.

55This place is great if your dog loves fetch. There's a big open area where you toss a ball. If your dog is dog reactive like mine, you might want to be careful. At one point, the neighbor's dog ran up to the fence. Fortunately, my dog didn't see it, so I was able to divert her. Other than that, everything was great. Heidi R.

55Huge yard, mostly chain link fence. Grass was nice and yard was tidy. A few toys about but I was glad I had brought my own. I also brought my own water, but there is a hose and I imagine it would be okay to use it to fill up.
Yard has some old outbuildings, with access to the underneath restricted by chicken wire. At most places with elevation change or topography, any fence gaps are covered with wood or rebar, but near the gates there are some larger gaps, so a smaller dog, a digging dog, or a determined escape artist could potentially take advantage. My dogs, which are stocky at 50 and 60 lbs, both smaller than a standard lab, had no chance of squeezing through.
Access and parking were simple and we didn't see or hear any other critters or people. Josie B.

55Rachel's yard is large, well-kept, and has lots of space for dogs to run and play. There are some bushes at the perimeters in which our dogs enjoyed playing a version of doggy hide and seek. They bounded all around and had a wonderful time. They were tuckered out by the time we left and they were so happy on the way home. Rachel is very kind and friendly. We look forward to having more fun at Rachel's Sniff Spot in the future.Paula D.

55My dog had a great time exploring the woods and running around the field. It’s a wonderful spot.
The following did not pose a problem for my dog but am noting in case it would be an issue for others: Neighbor kids were sledding next door, a neighbor dog behind the woods on the other side of the fence whined at us, host’s dog visible at the sliding glass door on the way out vocalized. 55It’s really spacious with different features of trails and open spaces for fetch! We did encountered the neighbor’s barking dog situation, which is not the host’s fault at all. But the neighbor’s dog did barked non stop for almost 40min without any intervention and tried to start fence fight. Luckily my dog is not reactive toward dog barking or fence fight so she quickly ignored them. But I definitely can see if that’s a problem for other people. We went in the afternoon

FAQ About Norfolk Dog Parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 7% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Norfolk area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 399 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 692 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
