55Beautiful place. Our two dogs had a great time. Thankfully it was only just as we were leaving that our big dog went after something into the dense trees on the hill. I couldn’t see what it was. Deer maybe? Joan A.

55Such a cool spot—clean, secluded, and obviously well cared for. My labs loved the pond and swam their hearts out. We also loved that there was a clean water source to hose them off after. We’ll be back! Alicia H.

55We really enjoyed this very spacious and unique place! The varied terrain, natural pond, and many paths, climbs, and vegetation kept our dogs very busy and happy. There was a boat with paddle too which we were tempted to use but maybe next time if we book for a longer period. There were tables and seating available and port-a-potty (which was immaculate) as well. Very well-thought out with Purell, sink, water hose, and campfire ring. Clean and well-maintained. Elaine H.

55Amazing place! I plan to make this a regular destination this Spring and Summer because my curious and adventurous pup and his playdate companion loved it sooooo much! It was soooo peaceful, beautiful, and the best part- private, safe & secure. A++ Chondra H.

55This is a great space for our Bernese Mt Dog, with a large meadow for him to get his zoomies out, shade trees to cool down, and hillside trails and paths for him to explore. He’s not a water dog (yet) but we’ll see if he shows an interest in the pond when we return. Mark L.

55June ( my German Shepard ) and I had a good time wandering the trails and playing ball in the flats. I had her on a leash, I am glad I did. We found a dead deer carcass. To the left of the pond and up a hill.
Other than that it’s a fun play place.
Thank youSteven C.

55Very nice open yard to play. There are other dogs, cars, cyclists and horses close by, so for me and my dog we did a lot of reactivity training, which was mostly good, as he was triggered often during our time. Audrey C.

55I took my dog here last Friday afternoon and he ran around and explored for a couple of hours. It was very quiet, and he got to chase little critters and play in the pond without interruption.
There were tons of black legged ticks all over but my dog is on preventative so I just bathed him when we got home. He didn’t want to leave when it was time to go, which means he enjoyed himself. Naomi T.

FAQ About Novato Dog Parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 1% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Novato area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 205 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 309 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
