This big yard has a door that leads to the hiking trail of Whiting Ranch (I am not responsible for if you chose to go out there) but it is beautiful trail I take my dogs and kids on. At least once a month we see deer out there. On A clear day you can see to ocean, Catalina, and Long Beach. Great space for the dogs and the owners. What a beautiful yard! Just a gorgeous, unique place. My dog loved climbing on the boulders and running around the space. It was a nice big space for playing. To get down to the yard, you do pass by a chicken coop, as the owner mentions in the listing. That part is not fenced off from the rest of the yard. So if your doggie is chicken obsessed they will have a great time returning to the coop to stare at the chickens. 😂. It is just a bit steep to get to the bottom of the yard. There was plenty of water and a bucket of dog toys. The owner was very communicative which I loved.

I've been to many sniffspots over the past 2 years, and so far this is my favorite. As the guardian of a scent hound who I suspect is part mountain goat, I'm always looking for places she can safely play and explore off leash. This is a large sloping yard with varying terrain and boulders similar to what one would find out in nature. There are a couple of flat runs that your dog could play fetch. My dog likes to chase the ball but does not do repetitive fetching, so the slope was perfect to chase the bouncing ball downhill. We had a great time playing "find me" and just racing and sniffing around exploring, natural activities for a scent hound & good for her brain. There are very well-fenced chickens on the way in that my hound all but ignored after a reward to "leave it." Host was friendly and communicative, there was a fresh water bowl out and a bucket with a trash liner I'm hoping was for poopy bags. Not overpriced, a good value to have fun & exercise my girl - we will definitely be back.

Beautiful views and property with lots of space for our dog to run and sniff. A couple of lovely chickens (safely secured from dogs) will greet you on your way in and the entire acre is fenced. Was a lovely experience and we will visit again!

We had a good time here! Since we rescued our pup a little over a year ago, I’ve been nervous to let him off leash anywhere but parks and dog parks. I wanted to see how he does off leash in a new environment (similar to what we’ll explore hiking or camping in the future). This spot was great for that! Lots of rocks, slopes, lizards, and pokey plants to stay away from. We were able to use the yard for what we needed and unfortunately had to leave early because our pup doesn’t listen and wanted to be on the left side (where the toxic plants are). Are dog fields safe?

If you are looking for an adventure, but also looking for safety, Sniffspot dog fields are a great option. While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, distracted dog owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private space for just you and doggy friends you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). Especially for training, privacy is ideal. Contrary to public dog parks, all Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog for off leash exercise or outdoor training. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars, while public dog parks often do not even have verified reviews. You can even check the park amenities chart for amenities such as indoor training facilities, agility field, synthetic turf, exercise balls or field parking availability in advance. If inclement weather is an issue or poor field conditions, you can reschedule your visit up to 2 hours in advance.

What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot dog field?

We require that all four-legged friends have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not allow dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules. Make sure to check host rules before visiting to ensure, for instance, that you are following allowable sports activities rules and any special events rules.

Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot field at the same time as me?

No. Facility rentals are for private play time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the area during visits, so this is perfect for a private adventure for you and your doggie friends, and perhaps a human friend. Hosts understand that many guests have dogs in training and are nervous owners. So when you book a Sniffspot dog field you have the entire private spot to yourself. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between time slots so you will not run into other guest dogs or a previous person when coming or leaving in the field parking area. Some hosts may have multiple fields, but there is always a buffer between fields.
