Heated Swimming Pool - 0.5 Acre Fully Fenced Private Dog Park

Fully Fenced
0.5 acres

Dog friendly pool closes September 12. Note: Open times on the calendar are available for first-time and repeat visitors. I need to be here on your first visit to make sure you and your dog are comfy and confident, and your dog knows how to get out of the pool without getting hurt. If you are a repeat visitor, please message me about blocked times and we can work something out. Enjoy a heated pool (84deg min) for you and your furry friends inside a 0.5-acre fenced yard. A smaller, sniffier unfenced area is also available during your stay. The yard is landscaped so you can see about 95% of it when sitting in the shade by the pool, meaning you can just chill and almost always see the dogs as they sniff around. Rental includes a medium size 14-qt Coleman cooler (cold packs and larger cooler on request), pool toys for dogs, floats for humans, bottled water, dog bowls, Bluetooth speaker, solar charger for your gadgets, oscillating fans and bug spray to keep pests away and stay comfy in the heat. For emergencies, there’s also a US Coast Guard and dog-approved life ring hanging by the pool, and there’s a well stocked first aid kit for humans and beasts. A second 0.2-acre area is located just behind the fenced pool area. It is available for dogs well trained under voice control or on leashes (no sniffing into the neighbors yards - that’s not cool). The back area allows you to interact with dogs individually if you need one on one with a pup for training or for experience with new distractions. The back area has all the sniffs in a fairly small area for total doggie nosegasms — routine visitors include deer, raccoon, possum, groundhog, squirrels of course, and an occasional wild turkey or fox. A forested wetland behind the property still keeps things a lil wild for suburbia. Bird watchers (with very quiet dogs), may observe some of the 80+ birds that have been sighted or heard in the yard. The area is on the Ohio River flyway migration route, and the property has been planted for birds, wildlife, and pollinators. You have better places to bird, but a few may pleasantly distract you. Bring your furry friends for a sniff and a swim — and ponder some local history at the oldest house in the oldest US suburb designed by an African-American developer. You’ll see the second oldest house next door; they are the two remaining houses of the original three erected in the neighborhood, built for three sisters in the 1920s. We’re just up the hill from Hayes Kennedy Park and Garvin Brown Preserve on the river, so drop by *before* your walk. [ProTip: I used to swim out my young retrievers before trying to train them off leash.] In any case, because things happen, if your dogs are muddy, stinky, or worse, just let me know. There’s a hose available outside the gate by the driveway, and another on the pool side of the house. It’s also a big help to me if you brush out the fluffy ones before they come over- it makes them easier to brush out after the swim too. We all think dogs want to swim. For some dogs swimming is thrilling and wow. Others just don’t like to swim and aren’t ever gonna like to swim - but some of those dogs will tolerate a secure and controlled pool entry and exit to cool off. The sniffer types who don’t swim get great relief and comfort from even a 2-minute pool cuddle - and then they are off sniffing again. Know your dog. First visit is a whole new place and swimming? That might be a lot. Second visit dog is thinking, “it’s less of a new place but you freaked me out last time with that cement pond.” At your request I will interact with your dogs to help get them comfortable in the water — but in my experience, a hesitant dog is not going to want to swim unless you’re in the pool. Everyone is welcome — like our furry friends, we don’t judge. We are body positive, 420 friendly, and oh so proud to provide a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community. We should all be free to be you and me. Ask about discount codes for federal employees, emergency responders, and active military and veterans. Thank you for giving up your freedom so I can have mine.
