Our yard is a longer more narrow yard which allows the dogs a little more distance for their runs. There is landscape bordering the fence and a garden in the front of the yard next to a yoga studio. There are areas to explore and areas for both dog and owner to relax, and a secure dog run that can be used for training. There is some agility equipment, a small plastic pool, as well as a sandbox and a deck with a roof in the dog run to help keep the dogs cool on a hot day. Water(hose), dog bowl(s), toys and towel(s) to dry the dogs off will be provided.

Notice: We are closing the spot on May 23rd for maintenance. Sorry for the inconvenience. Grass and rain: Please keep in mind that during moderate to heavy rains the area without mulch can get muddy. Beginning May of 2024, we will post pictures daily to our Instagram account showing the condition of the spot. As you can imagine, due to the wear and tear the spot gets, it’s difficult to keep the grass alive. However, we do our best to reseed during the spring. BarkPark sits right across the street from The Salvation Army Freedom Center. This spot is fully fenced (chain link and wood) with the side facing the sidewalk being 5ft and the rest of the fence being 6ft. There is a dual-gate entrance to the spot for a safe entry and exit. Street parking is available. There is plenty of seating at this spot with shade throughout the day. There's a rain barrel filled with water for dogs to hydrate and cool down. We have water bowls available. GIANT sandbox that's great for digging and playing; no digging elsewhere please. On hot days, we do our best to keep the sand wet. Trash can onsite. We have poop bags available in two different areas for easy access. Half of this spot is covered with grass and the other half with playground mulch. This spot is big enough to get a good fetch session in or to just let the zoomies out. We also recently added agility equipment. We hope you and your four-legged friend/s have an exceptional time during your visit and choose to come back. Lost toys and items: Due to the amount of visits we get we aren’t able to track which items belong to which guest. If you’ve lost a dog toy or other item, please reach out and we’ll do our best to retrieve it and hold it for you. If you don’t reach out, we’ll hold onto it for a week and then add it to the Lost and Found Toy Box. Water: The dog drinking water gets changed 1-2 times per week, depending on the temperature/usage. During the winter months we empty the water barrel. If your dog/s require water during the winter months, we ask that you please bring your own. Food: You’re welcomed to bring food but we ask that you please clean up as a courtesy to other guests. Future additions: We hope to add more amenities over time. Our plans are to add more sand to the sandbox in late April or early May of 2024. We’re also hoping to have on-site parking around mid summer of 2024. If you have any suggestions for amenities, we’d love to hear your feedback.

For this reason, we have limited our evening and some weekend availability to Members Only to decrease the wear and tear on the yard. WATER: Due to freezing temperatures all water features have been removed for the season. Clean water bowls will be provided, but please bring your own water for the time being. Since some guests were having a tough time with the parking space, we did WIDEN the entrance. We park 2 Honda CRV's back there daily without issue. Fully fenced 6 foot secure and private green space. Any Extras will be located in the storage bin on the east wall of the lot. We have evening hours 6:30p to 9:30p for Members Only, 7 days per week.

January update- The hose is off for the season. Please remember to bring water. There is straw down on some of the heavier trafficked parts of the lawn that had gotten a bit muddy. This will hopefully reduce muddy paws a bit and help seed take in the spring. Large yard right on the river. No access to the river (yard is fully fenced), but human views of the water, ducks, other birds, and wildflowers on the bank. Pesticide, and herbicide, free lawn but various flowers, shrubs (and weeds) on the edges. Lots of wildlife in the area. Birds visit, bunnies, squirrels, etc. more than your average Chicago yard. End of dead end with pretty good privacy. There are 3 big dogs at the house across the alley, but they are also well fenced. They are out on occasion, but usually not for long and I can’t guarantee their schedule. The view is mostly blocked by garbage cans and bushes, but not completely, so this may not be the place if your pup is super reactive. There are 2 Adirondack chairs, feel free to move around into sun or shade or lay out a blanket or whatever you need to be comfortable. There is stainless steel water bowl and some toys. Feel free to use the hose by the stairs to fill up the water bowl hose the dogs off or whatever. You can pull it out into the middle of the yard, just put your foot on top of the reel to get better leverage and please reel back in after use. Chain link fence on most and iron fence at front. Not ideal for small dogs or escape artists that can squeeze under or through fence. See photos for details of fence and if your dog would try to squeeze through.

Make a day of it! Please note that even though the yard IS fully fenced, it is comprised of a variety of sizes shapes ranging from 6 feet privacy, raw iron, to 4 foot chain-link, barn wood with chicken wire between the wood gaps. You know your dog's "flight risk" better than anyone, so please make smart decisions when booking our yard. Dispose of poop bags in the BLUE TOP bin (green is recycle). Finally, note that we can only host 2 dogs at a time due to wear and tear on the yard. Have fun!

We just moved so we recommend that you only book us if you have dogs good with recall and off leash. 2.5 acres is a lot to chase a dog that doesn't recall. Additionally, we do have coyotes in the area, so little dogs may want to wait until we get our smaller dog run installed. Please no diggers as we don't want to worry about them creating openings for coyotes. We do have some sitting water/pond in back. Be careful with dogs that like to explore. We cannot guarantee they won't want to dive in and it's not clean yet. We just moved in and the property may have other things to be concerned about but from what we can tell, our dogs love it and the only other thing we have found is one of those burs in their coat on occasion- likely from the pond area. We will continuously update this to be a very friendly dog space. More to come as the weather warms!! Parking: You may park on the outside or inside of the gate. The right side of the gate pushes open (it's on a wheel). We will be getting an automatic gate soon. You're welcome to pull in and drive straight to the back of the property and park anywhere except on the gravel/slab closest to house. (There are septic tanks under there). You can park on the grass. It will be easier to exit if you park in the back but you can also park out front of the garage! Please close gate behind you to ensure your dog is fully fenced in and coyotes are fenced out! Message with any questions! SOON we will have a dog friendly air bnb that will offer you access to indoor plumbing and snacks! :) You may sit by the shed under the roof where the patio is to relax. A fully furnished poop station, first aid kit, toys and treats can be found there along with sanitizer and water.

We had THE BEST time here. One of our dogs is reactive around other dogs so we never get to go to dog parks. This spot was perfect. LOVED IT!! It was so clean and tranquil, it really is an urban retreat. My dog had a blast. We live in a condo, so we don’t get the perks of a backyard. She’s 1.5 now & used to love the dog park, other dogs, and people. After her first heat cycle she became very selective. This yard was a godsend for me today. I got to relax and play fetch with my dog, she got to relax and just play- we didn’t have to worry about strange dogs or people invading our space. They were SO accommodating and get everything prepped for us ahead of time. They even left a towel out for us if we used the kiddie pool! My dog didn’t want to use the pool but I appreciated the effort nonetheless. Will definitely be back many more times!

My girls loved it here! The area is securely enclosed even for my 7lb yorkie. The host had toys for my girls and even some agility training tools. Overall my experience was great!

Very nice yard space. Found easy street parking. Instructions to enter were clear. There is a mixture of brick paving and wood chips. A small pool with easily accessible hose. No other neighbors or animals or cars were visible.

Nancy's spot is awesome! There is great shade from the large neighboring trees. Our dogs really enjoyed having space to run, splash, jump, and dig. Nancy has some great toy options - including a flirt pole - and we sampled some dog snacks from her son's business.

My pets loved it! The sand pit is perfect for my digger, and pools perfect for my water lover! Nice enclosed in area, I didn’t see anyone the whole time which is great for my reactive dog. Easy street parking as well. Very kind of them to offer toys, water, dog bags, bug spray, hand sanitizer, toy sanitizer and towels!

Super cute! I can only hope to have a yard half as dog friendly as this one some day for my pups to run around in. It ended up raining during our time and Nancy messaged us prior and told us that she can wiggle our time around to try to miss the heavy rain. My dogs loved the sand and got really muddy and sandy but there was a hose/towels out so it was definitely worth it. Will definitely be back!

This is a doggie paradise! My two small dogs found so many gems to explore, including the puppy pools, agility equipment, and sandbox. Of course, what better way to follow a splash than with a roll in the woodchips! Nancy left out the hose and towels, plus a box of toys, sanitizer, and a comfy place for humans to relax.
