Top Public & Private Dog Parks in Oakland, CA

We enjoy coming to this quiet space in Oakland. Our dog likes to just explore and hang out so this is perfect for him. Plenty of spaces to sit and watch your pets as they run around.

This was our first sniffspot to visit ever! Robyn made the place super welcoming, with a full dog bowl next to a hose, bins of clean and used balls, tug toys, and a tool for throwing balls! There was a sign in the gate confirming it was the right place, and the whole thing was a breeze! The only trick is that the back fence is only ~4 feet high, and my husky mix found the one spot she might be able to escape over it (by balancing on some old wood and a cement block near the corner). She kept going back to puzzle over it which made me nervous, so I clipped her leash back on (to drag) and supervised whenever she was in that corner. A bummer cause I was hoping to be fully off leash, but better to be safe! For normal dogs though, that likely isn't a concern! :)

The yard was really peaceful and everything was organized, the dogs were happy to run and sniff around. I’d book again.

Great spot! Fully fenced and secure. My dog absolutely loved it! He just likes to walk around a sniff, so he had plenty of choices. Got so exhausted he asked to leave so he can sleep.

Lily was so nice!! Her garden is beautiful and has a lot of room to run around. It was easy finding her yard and so clean. Beautiful garden and we’ll definitely come by again :)

Easy to find street parking. Entrance was easy to find and open. The area is a decent size, not super big, not small. It is trimmed down and no hazardous stuff around. I really appreciate the filled up fresh water bowl and the toys clearly labeled whether clean or dirty. Will return to this place.

What a lovely secret garden (and a huge one that keeps going and going)! Our dog loved exploring every single inch of it. We'll be back for sure.

Lots of space to run around. Lots of nooks and crannies to sniff. It was a warm day and there are some nice shady areas under the trees. We had some rain during our last visit and found this to be a nice spot to visit in any weather. Our two big dogs love it!

This spot was AWESOME! We decided to stop here for a break during our road trip & I highly recommend it. It's a perfect spot, especially in the middle of the day. It was over 90 degrees at 1pm & there was plenty of shade for Lulu to cool down (she has a black coat & she overheats easily so I was very impressed). There's seating under the shade, water bowls, lots of toys & plenty of space to roam around. Parking was a nightmare & 99% of that was my fault. I'm not from the area but you can park right in the front of the gate entrance or in the parking spaces in between Lilly's house & the neighbors' house if the main parking area is full. Lilly is sooo nice & welcoming. She came out to chat with us since I was messaging her previously & wanted to make sure we had a great time (I'd like to make it clear it was not unexpected!). I appreciated that a lot & anyone who comes here will notice that Lilly goes above & beyond for our furry babies. 💜

Lovely to have so much space for my dog to run around. It was so quiet and lots of places to sit while my dog chased the ball. Just make sure to check your dog for foxtails afterwards. Plenty of balls for dogs of all sizes.

Great yard, lots of room to roam and many shady spots to take a break from the sun. The neighbor dogs were out briefly a couple times and barked a bit, but they stayed in the top part of their yard which was very secure. I may have felt nervous if they were down by the chain link fence.

Lots of space for the pups to run! The gentle slope is a nice feature - makes for an extra tiring game of fetch :).

We enjoyed this lovely yard and the shady trees, nice seating area, toys, balls, and water. The host is a great communicator.

What a lovely place! The yard is clean, neat, and fully fenced in. The gravel is not so conducive to running around or wrestling (if that’s your thing) but it was perfect for us today, as Billie spent the time smelling the flowers and enjoying being off leash outside. This would also be perfect for dogs who have grass allergies. I would definitely recommend this Sniffspot!

Lovely place to relax and so peaceful! The stairs are steep and a bit wobbly, since it’s on a hill, just a heads up. My dog was obsessed with looking through the fence at the chickens next door lol!

Fantastic garden oasis in the Oakland hills. Our reactive dog had a great time exploring and sniffing all the new smells, and plotting ways to get to the squirrels on the other side of the fence :) impossible, not to worry. We loved it, hope to return soon.

Such a lovely Sniffspot! The backyard isn't huge but perfectly secure, with plenty of room for my dog to run and play. There’s lots of shade to keep things cool, and the seating area is super cute and comfy, perfect for relaxing while my pup explored. Peaceful, private, and very well set up, we’ll definitely be back!
