There is a small cattle farm to one side, and is otherwise landlocked, aside from the 400 foot entrance. The trails are not professional, and the location offers a wilderness of fun. Stay on the trail, or don't. Let your dog go where it's nose leads! There is partial fencing on two sides. Some area of trails may be extra wet and there is a seasonal swamp in middle of woods. Just a reminder always check for ticks! * please also check messages, I send out first timers info msgs and other information msgs that you may need to know* Dog paradise! Trails throughout, 3 acre lake, fenced in 24 acres. So much to do and explore. This is a natural area including woods and lake. Recall is still important. A great spot for recall training. We check fence regularly the best we can and I run 4x4 each morning to try and move out any wildlife. However It is such a large space if your pup does not stick with you. There could be times during day when we may miss if a critter has dug out under fence or branch has fallen. You know your dog(s) so use your best judgement if you feel they will be safe. It really is such an awesome space, we have learned after buying it is actually an old sandstone rock quarry! You will see lots a rocks throughout trails. Please watch steps for rocks and roots on trails. We have a small farmyard with ducks, chickens and pigs. They are fenced in their own area. Main trail in woods comes out behind the farm. If you are unsure of how dogs will react please leash while passing to ensure safety of all. Our Sniffspot has been referred to as Dog Heaven. We are in a remote area in the Appalachian Foothills of SE Ohio. We have farm roads, mowed trails and open fields you and your dog can enjoy, but the favorite place for most dogs is our pond. Our pond features a dock that dogs love to jump off of. There is also a large covered pavilion with tables and chairs. A basket of water toys is next to the dock. There is an outhouse there and well, it is primitive, but clean (unless the mice make nests, but I try to keep ahead of that) In dry weather the pond is accessible by vehicle but it is also a good walk for people and dogs, about 1/2 a mile from the parking area (and mostly uphill). This pavilion also has our "Sugar Shack" attached, which is where we boil down maple sap in February and March to make syrup. The Maple Grove is up a trail above the pond. **My dogs swim in this pond most days in the spring, summer & fall. The pond has an aerator and also is treated with Pond Blue, both of which help to eliminate the possibility of dangerous algae blooms. There is also no fertilization of fields that could run off into the pond. **
