55My three-year-old German Shepherd had fun exploring. Being our first time there, I let her off leash just part of the time and used a very long leash. She didn't jump off the dock into the pond, but walked in from the side until it was deep enough for her to swim, and she swam around a bit and got out. It was pretty cute because I did not think she would want to swim! She is a rescue and shy/fearful (not aggressive) of strangers, but she was calm around Rick - I think because of his gentle and calm manner. He was so kind and even provided towels, bug spray, doggie toys, and a hose to wash the mud of my dog (who got very dirty from wading in a creek). I plan to come back soon with a couple of her doggie friends. Allie M.

Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks.
