Top Public & Private Dog Parks in Oakland, CA

Great, large fenced space! The owner was very helpful with instructions sent in advance. As others have mentioned, to enter you go down a hallway with stairs. One thing to note is if your dog runs back that way, they aren't visible from the main yard. We left a little early because a car backfired in the distance and scared my very noise sensitive dog, but that was just bad luck.

Beautiful yard with so much space for dogs to play. No other animals within seeing or hearing distance when I was there. My dog had so much fun and enjoyed running and relaxing in the shade too.

Our dog enjoyed sniffing all over the grounds. A lot of plants and shade for her to romp around in. We could hear the neighbors and chickens next door but our dog never saw them so she was fine. Plenty of water and toys though the landscaping wasn't ideal for fetch or running full speed. Overall we had a good time and our dog came back and had a nice long nap.

Huge backyard, lots of free roaming space and my dogs were so tired after the play session. Unfortunately, foxtails are native here so it’ll be hard to avoid. My recommendation to others is to always check your dog’s paws.

This was our first Sniff Spot and it was great. The yard was secure and there were lots of shady spots to rest and get out of the sun.

Quite a few steps down but the running up and down hill really tired out Ranger! Lots of beautiful flowers to see and smell! There were even orange and lemon trees.

Some of the wood fence is missing. Looks like it's in the process of being replaced. There is temporary vinyl fencing there. Just be aware if you have a dog that might bolt.

First sniff spot experience = THE BEST! All three pups loved exploring & sniffing, & I appreciated the seating area as a vantage point! The garden offers a gem of a getaway in the midst of an urban environment. We felt safe and surrounded by peace + privacy! For other newbies: it’s definitely the horizontal fence that lets you know you’re in the right spot - no house number visible from the street, & the little combo lock is also discreet til you’re standing on the sidewalk.

First Sniffspot I’ve ever been to. Space is great for sniffing and exploring. My doggie had a great time. She was knocked out by the time we got home. Just make sure you close the little black door at the top of the stairs when you enter. Keep an eye out for the security door. It’s easy to miss it if you don’t look for it. Had a blast!

Biggest sniffspot in Oakland I think - TONS of room for pups to run. My dogs had a great time! A few foxtail patches but we were able to avoid them fairly easily. Be aware of loose rocks.

Great SniffSpot! Large, clean backyard with good fencing. Lots of room and tennis balls for my dog to run around and have a blast!

Our dogs love this yard. Lots of space and nooks and crannies to explore for sniffers and enough open space for some fun games of chase.

My Great Pyrenees loves to check the integrity of fences and this one was sturdy! Lots of land to roam and it’s on a hill so more energy burned.

Good clean backyard area. The patio was very nice and the grass was enough for my little dog to wander around. One spot of the fence seems to be collapsing but it’s not a huge gap yet.

Kind, communicative host who let us know in advance that the yard was fairly overgrown (getting cut/cleaned up next week, didn't bother my large great dane). Several water bowls and toys are available (reccomend bringing a water bottle), great shady spots to sit and hang out while your pup explores. We were a little startled by the very large, loud turkey next door (contained, not able to come up to the fence) but quickly grew used to him! Biggest downside for my specific circumstances would be the neighbor's dogs. They were only out for 10 minutes while I was visiting, and technically could not "greet" any dogs in the Sniffspot yard due to how the fences are set up - but my dog is very large and sometimes reactive, and the fence blocking the Sniffspot from the neighbor dogs is very short and not the most sturdy, so I worried about her charging through it or jumping over. I just put my dog on leash and stuck to other areas of the yard while those dogs were out - good time to practice some training, and I came prepared due to other reviews (and the host) mentioning the other dogs :) A note on fencing: probably not the best yard for a determined escape artist, as several spots are very low or "flimsy", but the entire area IS enclosed. Love Cory's spot! Our dog Llama has so much room to roam, lots of interesting nooks to explore, plenty or open area for playing fetch, and tons of lush grass. Good shady spots when it's hot too. This is our main go-to for sniff spots near Oakland!

I visited Cory’s yard with my 2 dogs, one of whom is a new rescue pup that needs space to run, but isn’t ready for dog parks or off-leash trails. It was perfect. Well-maintained & clean. Not a lot of shade, so just come prepared if it’s a warm day.

My dog and I had a great time hanging in the backyard. Since it was pretty warm today. The yard is massive, by the end of your booking your dogs will be exhausting
