55Always a pleasure visiting this SniffSpot. Spanky got his zoomies out and then all the good sniffs. He wanted to see the dog next door but he only could hear him so he decided to sit and survey his SniffSpot domain.
Our host, Sandy, always has fresh water, toys and poop scoop equipment if you forgot your poop bags. Everything is clearly marked and there’s reserved parking in the driveway for SniffSpot guests, along with a personal welcome sign in the entrance gate ♥️Debra R.

55We were the first visitors to this new SniffSpot and Spanky had a lovely time 😊 The yard is big enough for zoomies, lawn and plants nicely manicured, the fencing is high and secure and no other dogs were seen or heard. There were toys and water and Spanky enjoyed lounging on the Kuranda bed just taking in the sights and smells. There was a reserved spot to park in the driveway and clearly marked entrance with a nice personalized welcome sign on the entrance gate.
I have one suggestion as the weather heats up and that would be the addition of one of those hard plastic baby pools for cooling off. It was pretty hot this afternoon so I hosed him down a bit but he loves a baby pool and I’m sure other dogs would too. Thank you for opening your lovely yard to us and other dogs to run off leash 💖Debra R.

55What a great spot! Beautifully manicured lawn with plenty of room to throw the ball for my pup. He went straight for the toys! Easy access and responsive hosts. We will definitely return. Cassie R.

55Spanky had a lovely time at this new SniffSpot! He was tired from the day before so he didn’t want to run around or chase his ball, but there were lots of good plant sniffs and definitely room for zoomies 😁
Our host, Sonia, was great at communicating immediately about any questions I had.
The next door neighbor has a big dog who barked aggressively at the fence but since Spanky couldn’t see him, he didn’t react. A super reactive dog might have a different response.

55Although the host Jayme had to cancel due to an injury, she was quick to respond right from the start, and kept in touch, which I really appreciated. We will definitely book again and are looking forward to this new SniffSpot ☺️Debra R.

55Heather's backyard was a spacious and beautiful Sniffspot! There were tons of interesting things to smell and lots of space to run around. We were also given toys, water, and treats while we were there. We heard occasional barks from neighbor dogs. The entrance is through the house, and Heather was present intermittently during our visit. This was fine with us because our dog met her and felt comfortable; if your dog is fearful of strangers, you may want to ask to be let in the side gate and request more privacy.Karli R.

FAQ About Oxnard Dog Parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 3% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Oxnard area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 160 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 206 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
