55We were promptly greeted by the resident pup, but we totally forgot he was there once we entered the gate. Perfect size for us with a huge pine tree for shade. Unfortunately pine trees mean needles and pinecones! No worries for us as there were so many scents to snell for us, but our friend who likes to chase balls kept stepping on them, and was not a fan. Not at all the fault of the owner, but worth noting. Again, so many smells in the yard, that we never noticed them, and the shade was worth it. There is also a deck that my sniffer REALLY wanted to get under but not enough room. Might be a concern for small dogs. Our ball chaser liked playing peek a boo on the deck. There was a pooper scooper and trash available and easy to find as well as a sign on the gate. The owner was kind and very responsive. I can definitely see us coming back to check out the splash pad! Was so nice to let them play in the snow without constantly watching for cars and other distractions. The dogs next door definitely sparked an interest, but the fence was a perfect deterrent. Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers).
