Katie Casell is a double certified dog trainer, having graduated with distinction from Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training & Behavior (KPA CTP) and CATCH Canine Trainers Academy (CCDTK). She is a Certified Dog Trainer Knowledge Assessed (CDPT-KA), through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. She is also a Fear Free Certified Professional Trainer (FFCP), a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer (CSAT) and a Family Dog Mediator (FDM).

Katie believes that dog training should be engaging, motivating, and fun for both you and your dog, which is why all of her services utilize positive reinforcement. Training methods and equipment should never hurt or scare your dog.

I offer potty training, puppy training, private in-home coaching sessions, day training, all basic cues, trick training, distraction training, training for reactive dogs, training for aggressive dogs.

I typically work with fearful, nervous, reactive, and sound sensitive dogs.

Dog training methods:

I use force free methods when training. All training starts with a consultation, where I give the humans things they can work on right away. After meeting the dog(s) and humans, I design a training plan that fits their particular needs.

Why I became a dog trainer:

Because I couldn't find a force-free dog trainer to help me with my own reactive dog.

My favorite part of being a dog trainer:

Helping dog guardians understand that their dogs are not being "bad", but are actually struggling. Once the humans shift their perspective, they are more likely to choose force-free methods.

My #1 dog training tip:

Catch your dog doing things you like, and reward those things. Your dog, in turn, will start to do more things you like. It's a win-win!
