I've had the opportunity to Volunteer at AWL and get to know a lot of the staff and volunteers. I love being around people who care and love animals as much as I do. AWL is a no kill shelter and they have a mission to find all of the animals life long loving homes. They work with the community to have fundraisers, pet adoption clinics and social media to help get the word out. They truly care, they provide an onsite vetenarian to provide treatment and to spay and neuter animals in need. I will continue to support them and help so we can get as many as possible animals adoptedSusan Keefe
We are a no kill shelter. As a volunteer I see how dedicated the staff and volunteers are. Here the animals are loved, great care. They have many clinics that give a free first visit after adopting. AWL holds several events outside the facility a month to raise funds. I am proud to volunteer here. We are a 501-3c.
Mission and Vision
We promise any animal that enters our doors and can be made adoptable through veterinary care and/or training will have a roof over its head, food, enrichment, and the love of our staff.
Adoption Policy
Our policy is we have no holds list. Any person as long as pet is available can adopt that pet. If the pet need spaying or neutering they place a $25.00 hold on an animal. After the animal has its surgery they can come finish the adoption.

"We have the most wonderful pets available. They are very well taken care of here. They have a clean place to eat and sleep. We have a veterinarian on site to take care of all medical issues. Many dog walkers take the time to try training the dog too. I just love this animal shelter"

"I have worked with dogs for 40 years and been a volunteer at the animal welfare league for 2+. The care that’s given to the animals is superior. They are handled with care and kindness. The dogs are walked daily. I person walks them on a leash, kennels are kept clean And socialization occurs regularly. The same applies to the cats and other small pets, such as hamsters and rabbits, The league also reaches out to homeless peoples pets and provides adoption opportunities in the community as well as at the facility. I highly recommend them has an excellent example of an animal rescue."

"I have volunteered at AWL for almost 3 years and have watched numerous cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, and pigs along with many other animals that have come into our shelter. During my time there the staff, along with the volunteers have and are doing an amazing job trying to keep up with the demand of all of the animals coming in everyday into our shelter. All of the animals are well cared for as best as we can considering the shelter is in desperate need of an update."

"I’ve been a dog walker at AWL for 18 months. Even though we are hugely overcrowded, we make sure our dogs are well cared for and fed, get medical care, get walked twice a day, and loved on all the time. All our cats are also well loved and cared for."

"I walk the dogs at AWL, I have for over a year and adopted a mixed breed we adore her.
Everyone works so hard at our no kill shelter. As many other rescues get funding we run completely on donations. I love AWL and all our dogs and cats that will probably live out there lives there.
Thank you for your consideration.

David Adams is a man of many passions, but his love for dogs stands above all. He is not only a dog lover, but also the founder of an innovative platform called Sniffspot. This unique platform connects dog owners with private property owners who are willing to rent out their space for off-leash playtime. While the idea of Sniffspot was initially conceived by his wife, Rebecca, David has been the driving force behind its remarkable success, tirelessly overseeing its growth and development.
David's dedication to providing safe and enjoyable spaces for dogs to play, explore, and socialize is evident in his unwavering commitment to Sniffspot. He strongly believes that dogs need ample space and opportunities to stretch their legs and have fun. As a result, he has worked tirelessly to build a network of private property owners across the country who share his vision and are willing to offer their space for the benefit of dogs and their owners.
Despite his busy schedule, David always finds time to indulge in his passion for the great outdoors. He loves nothing more than exploring new hiking trails and embarking on thrilling outdoor adventures. Whenever he is not working on Sniffspot, he can often be found hiking or visiting multi-acre fenced sniffspots with his two beloved dogs, Soba and Toshii. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and the sense of freedom that comes with being in nature.
