Established in 1987, the Humane Society of Lincoln County has worked to protect and care for the abandoned pets in our community. In 2020 we moved into our new shelter facility that insures a healthy environment for incoming pets. To address the increasing problem of pet overpopulation, HSLC has launched several initiatives promoting the importance of spaying and neutering. We also have a program to help trap, neuter and release (TNR) feral cats to help control their populations.
Mission and Vision
OUR MISSION:
• Provide shelter and comfort to homeless pets.
• Place adoptable pets into homes where they find respect, value, and protection.
• Educate the public on humane issues.
• Find solutions to the challenges that confront the animals in our community.
Adoption Policy
We welcome you to the Humane Society of Lincoln County. Please allow plenty of time to find your perfect pet. Once you have selected a pet, the adoption process will take at least 20 minutes.
Prior to meeting with our adoptable pets, you will be asked to fill out a brief survey and adoption form. We welcome you to tour our shelter at any time and become acquainted with the variety of beautiful pets available for adoption. If you have any questions or assistance, please feel free to ask any of our staff.
1. Please note the report cards on each adoptable pet’s living quarters. You will learn how they came to HSLC, personality traits/preferences, and other valuable information. Staff or volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about our pets.
2. Once you’ve found your perfect companion, our staff will walk you through the adoption process. We ask that every member of your family meet our pet residents prior to adoption. When considering adopting a dog, if you currently own a dog(s), we suggest that you bring your dog(s) to HSLC so that they may be introduced to your potential new canine family member. This helps to ensure that your new dog is the perfect fit for your family. Please note: We perform background checks on every potential adopter, and will not adopt a pet to any person convicted of a violent crime or animal abuse.
3. After signing our adoption contract, paying our adoption fees, your new pet will be ready to go home with you! Donations are always welcomed as our adoption fees cover only a fraction of the costs of preparing a pet for adoption.

Get your dog the safe enrichment they need by renting a Sniffspot

David Adams is a man of many passions, but his love for dogs stands above all. He is not only a dog lover, but also the founder of an innovative platform called Sniffspot. This unique platform connects dog owners with private property owners who are willing to rent out their space for off-leash playtime. While the idea of Sniffspot was initially conceived by his wife, Rebecca, David has been the driving force behind its remarkable success, tirelessly overseeing its growth and development.
David's dedication to providing safe and enjoyable spaces for dogs to play, explore, and socialize is evident in his unwavering commitment to Sniffspot. He strongly believes that dogs need ample space and opportunities to stretch their legs and have fun. As a result, he has worked tirelessly to build a network of private property owners across the country who share his vision and are willing to offer their space for the benefit of dogs and their owners.
Despite his busy schedule, David always finds time to indulge in his passion for the great outdoors. He loves nothing more than exploring new hiking trails and embarking on thrilling outdoor adventures. Whenever he is not working on Sniffspot, he can often be found hiking or visiting multi-acre fenced sniffspots with his two beloved dogs, Soba and Toshii. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and the sense of freedom that comes with being in nature.
