Our rescue was formed in 2010 for the purpose of preventing abuse to animals. MADR was primarily a foster based rescue until 2015, when we opened a shelter in Detroit to accept more intakes and expand our reach.
We help the dogs no one else will touch, regardless of their breed, behavior, or medical condition.
This includes saving dogs from euthanization from high kill shelters, medically-fragile owner surrenders, rescues from abusive situations, and disease-ridden strays. We provide the behavioral training, medical assistance, and support to rehabilitate these dogs, no matter the cost, until they're ready for a new forever home.
Adoption Policy
We do require that potential adopters/fosters complete an application in person, and have a face to face interview with a group representative. We do home inspections and cannot drive more than an hour. Fully fenced yard is required for our bully breed dogs and all puppy adoptions. All adult dogs have a one time adoption donation of $300. All puppies and dogs under 25 lbs have a one time adoption donation of $350. If the dog is over 6 months of age, spaying and neutering is performed by the rescue and at the rescue's cost.
Testimonials
See all testimonials"Make a difference rescue really makes a difference in so many dogs lives. They offer unconditional love and support for those who need it the most. They open their doors to the souls who have no where else to go when all their hope is lost. They rescued our sweet babies from horrible conditions and showed them what love and safety was. We will forever be grateful for them. Without them so many more dogs would be suffering."

"I have adopted from this rescue and was almost nervous about how particular they are about checking everything out to make sure their dogs will have the best care in their new home! After that Make a Difference Rescue helped me get 13 dogs out of an abandoned home and placed most of them in homes. I now foster the remaining dogs and bring them to shows. I also am now volunteering at the rescue and I am impressed with the care these dogs receive."
