Mont Belvieu Animal Services is a city department tasked with enforcing the city's animal ordinances and working to eliminate animal-related problems within the city. Unclaimed or otherwise homeless animals are available for adoption at Mont Belvieu Animal Shelter, located at 3831 Perry Ave.
During weekday business hours, shelter staff may be unavailable due to calls for service, vet appointments, meetings, etc. If you visit the animal shelter during posted business hours and the door is locked, please call 281-576-2417 to notify the non-emergency police dispatch office, who will then notify shelter staff you have arrived. The shelter is open on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. for visitation and adoptions, but staff do not respond to service calls on Saturdays.
Adoption Policy
Before You Adopt
Before you commit to adopting your next pet, please ask yourself the following questions and ensure that you're setting both your new pet and yourself up for success and lifelong happiness.
Do you have time for a pet?
Dogs, cats, and other animal companions require daily exercise and interaction to be happy and healthy. Before adopting a pet, consider whether you will have enough time to provide the care they need.
Can you afford a pet?
The costs of pet ownership can be quite high. Veterinary care, grooming, food, toys, treats, cat litter, training classes, licenses, rental fees, and other expenses can add up quickly.
Are you prepared to deal with special problems that a pet can cause?
As a pet owner, it is important to be prepared for any problems that may arise with your new family member. Some of these situations include scratched/damaged furniture, accidents in the house while learning to be housetrained, barking, escaping from the yard, unexpected medical emergencies, etc.
Can you have a pet where you live?
Many rental properties and HOAs have restrictions on the amount, size, and/or breed of pets in their communities, or potentially don't allow pets at all. Most rental properties require a pet deposit and/or monthly fee to own a pet. Make sure you check with your property management or HOA to determine what restrictions are in place and whether you can afford any related fees.
Will you be a responsible pet owner?
As well as everything listed above, obeying community animal laws and keeping proper identification on your pets is part of being a responsible owner. All pet owners must abide by these laws and ordinances.
Finally, are you prepared to keep and care for the pet for his or her entire lifetime?
When you adopt a pet, you are making a commitment to care for the animal for his or her lifetime. For some animals, this can be upwards of 15 years. Make sure you are ready and able to make that commitment prior to adoption.

Get your dog the safe enrichment they need by renting a Sniffspot

David Adams is a man of many passions, but his love for dogs stands above all. He is not only a dog lover, but also the founder of an innovative platform called Sniffspot. This unique platform connects dog owners with private property owners who are willing to rent out their space for off-leash playtime. While the idea of Sniffspot was initially conceived by his wife, Rebecca, David has been the driving force behind its remarkable success, tirelessly overseeing its growth and development.
David's dedication to providing safe and enjoyable spaces for dogs to play, explore, and socialize is evident in his unwavering commitment to Sniffspot. He strongly believes that dogs need ample space and opportunities to stretch their legs and have fun. As a result, he has worked tirelessly to build a network of private property owners across the country who share his vision and are willing to offer their space for the benefit of dogs and their owners.
Despite his busy schedule, David always finds time to indulge in his passion for the great outdoors. He loves nothing more than exploring new hiking trails and embarking on thrilling outdoor adventures. Whenever he is not working on Sniffspot, he can often be found hiking or visiting multi-acre fenced sniffspots with his two beloved dogs, Soba and Toshii. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and the sense of freedom that comes with being in nature.
