Reggie’s Friends was founded out of our pure love of street dogs! Being parents to our former street dog Reggie and living in a city with a massive homeless animal crisis drove us to figure out how to do something to help! Reggie’s Friends is a registered 501c3 non-profit animal rescue organization dedicated to helping Street Dogs find Sweet Lives both in Houston and across the country. Our team of dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to place our amazing dogs into equally amazing forever families! In addition to adoptions, Reggie’s Friends also devotes time and resources to animal welfare education as well as helping community members vaccinate, spay/neuter owned pets as a way of helping cut down on the number of homeless pets. At Reggie’s Friends, we live and love by our motto #Street Lifet To Sweet Life!

Mission and Vision

The mission of Reggie’s Friends is quite simple. Help dogs. Help people. Help people help dogs. Reggie’s Friends was founded out of our love of helping Street Dogs. Living in Houston where there is a massive pet overpopulation and homeless animal crisis, we wanted to figure out how to do something to help! We founded Reggie’s Friends, a volunteer-based 501c3 animal welfare organization to both help place homeless animals into loving forever homes but also to help educate the public and do our part to assist with vital spay/neuter inititaves. Here at Reggie's Friends, we live and love by our motto Street Life To Sweet Life!

Adoption Policy

Adoption Procedures • First, please note that the entire rescue is volunteer run. Everyone from our director down to our amazing fosters have full time jobs and families. Meaning, it may take us a day or two to get back to you, but don’t worry, we will! • With that in mind, we would appreciate applications only being submitted by serious adopters. It takes us several days to process applications and we want to use that time to work with families who are committed to bringing a new family member home. • You MUST be 21 years old to apply, must have never been convicted of animal cruelty, must be able to provide two, non-family references, and must be able to financially afford the cost of owning a dog. • If you rent your home or live with a relative, please have their permission for the particular dog you are applying for in hand when you apply. We will check with relatives and/or leasing agents during the adoption process. Additionally, many leasing agencies have restrictions on breeds/sizes/weights, so please check any restrictions prior to applying. • Please be sure to read the biographic information on the dog you are interested in. We spend a lot of time providing information about the dogs’ behaviors, personality, potential challenges, and health. We want every family+dog combination to be the best possible fit! • We ask that adoptive families be ready to bring their dog home within TWO weeks of the application. We cannot hold dogs beyond that. The longer the dogs are with us, the more they miss out on time with their family and the fewer dogs we are able to rescue. If you are not ready to bring a dog home within a 2-3 week time period, please check back and see what dogs we have available closer when you will be ready to welcome your dog home! • If we get multiple applications for any dog our policy is that we process any and all applications equally and work with the foster parent in order to find the best possible scenario for both the pup and the family. • Many of our dogs are fostered in Houston and travel to their families via pet safe transport options (either flights or ground transport) to their adoptive families following the completion of the adoption process. • However, we do actively work with fosters in the Seattle, Portland, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, and Boston areas. So, if you are interested in a specific dog, please send us an email and we will gladly give you location details! • For distance-adoptions where you are not able to meet the dog in person, we set up meetings via a video chats (Facetime, Duo, Skype) so you can see the dogs and meet their fosters. We totally understand that this method is not for everyone and respect that! • Canadian Adoptions – unfortunately due to COVID-19 we are unable to adopt into Canada at the time. • The adoption fees must be paid in full within three days of the application being finalized and prior to pet parents taking custody of the dog. We cannot accept partial fees or set up payment plans. • Once the adoption fee is paid, it is non-refundable. • We accept payment via PayPal, Apple Pay, Chase Pay, and Venmo. We do not accept checks as a form of payment. • For dogs adopted via distance placement, we do our best to transport to the closest major airport or ground transportation drop off point. We use various airlines and ground transportation companies and work with adopters to find the best pick up locations. • We try to work with our adopters as much as possible to make pickup of their pet, but sometimes the designated pick up locations are as close as we are able to get to certain areas for a number of reasons requiring some flexibility.

He strongly believes that dogs need ample space and opportunities to stretch their legs and have fun. As a result, he has worked tirelessly to build a network of private property owners across the country who share his vision and are willing to offer their space for the benefit of dogs and their owners. Despite his busy schedule, David always finds time to indulge in his passion for the great outdoors. He loves nothing more than exploring new hiking trails and embarking on thrilling outdoor adventures. Whenever he is not working on Sniffspot, he can often be found hiking or visiting multi-acre fenced sniffspots with his two beloved dogs, Soba and Toshii. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and the sense of freedom that comes with being in nature. David is based in Salem, MA.
