55This is such a great spot to take your dog to run and explore. There's so much space with clearly-marked fencing for you to play fetch or just run around and feel secure that your dog won't get loose. Jo and her husband were wonderful and met us to show us around the property and answer any questions. We will definitely be back!Stan P.

55Fantastic magical spot. Long grass for my pit bull to hop around like a bunny, lots of stinky muddy pits for my St. Bernard X to roll in, and river access for swimming! Really welcoming and kind homeowner showed me around. The spot is massive and super fun. Our hour flew by, and we will certainly be back. Thank you!Lorenzo F.

55The host is really wonderful at communicating how to get to the location and where to park. She also showed us around when we got there and gave us the lay of the land. The area by the river is a nice quiet spot away from everything. And the field around the property is great for running and sniffing! Our dog had a great time and we had fun watching him explore!Ambra R.

55We had an amazing time at this spot! The hosts were great at communicating, very personable, and could not have made us feel more welcome. We truly appreciate their understanding and catering to reactive dogs. They met us upon arrival and fully explained the property while Frankie was in his covered crate in the car. The property is gorgeous and well cared for with great views and so much to explore! We loved the water access, camping area with swing, and easy walking spots. From the walking area along the water, we saw a few cyclists (the host informed us of this ahead of time!). We actually ended up really liking this–they were far enough away to be safe for Frankie's level of reactivity, but close enough where we could practice some DSS/CC training whenever we saw them. However, the property is so expansive that you could avoid them totally if needed. We didn't have a chance to see everything in this magical place in just one hour, so we'll definitely be back with more time booked. We're so thrilled that a Sniffspot opened close to us and plan on becoming regulars! Mickey B.

55Jessica was very helpful with directions and meeting us to orient to the property on our first visit. The dogs appreciated the variety: large hay field, corn fields, a fun marshy area with tall grass, and the waterfront. View of the mountains on a clear day. The property is not fenced along the road, and the waterfront area is on one side while the fields are the other, so you may want to leash your dogs while crossing. There is a slope upward to the road on both sides that felt like a boundary of sorts, and we were comfortable with dogs off leash once we were on either side and with some distance. There are cattle and horses (fenced), but easy to avoid if that’s a problem. Also some gunshots in the distance, but the dogs were too busy exploring to mind. Karen H.

55We had a wonderful time letting our young dog run in this field. He can really stretch his legs and go fast! Just FYI, he is a hunting dog and did happen to find the dead carcass of an animal. It is so nice to feel out in the country so close to the urban area. Thanks for a great experience! Jessica N.

55Great open field with good visibility and easy parking. Well-maintained and super chill spot. Fyi, there are goats in the field behind this one, and the barbed wire fence is not secure. If your dog is a chase-y moron like my pit bull, you might want to leash up near the back fence. Fortunately my dogs have excellent recall, so she didn't get sliced to ribbons trying to eat goat meat for dinner. Love this spot and will definitely be back!Lorenzo F.

55Love this field to run my dogs in! About 20 minutes in we heard a horse neigh near one edge. My little dog got curious, and I wasn’t going to risk letting him chase livestock. So we avoided the east side and just sort of stuck to the middle. Great way to let the dogs get their energy used up by playing fetch in the field and getting to run full blast! Thanks for opening this area up to the dogs!!!Rema G.

55Easy to find. Huge field. Not as muddy as other places despite the rain. There is no gate or fence at the entry point so we walked our dogs in on leash and then there was plenty to do far from the road. The pups loved it, and found a wooded water spot at the back of the property. Would be a great place to have social distance puppy play dates. Karen H.

FAQ about our Castle Rock dog parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 97% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Castle Rock area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 51 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 10 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
