A Purposeful Life Animal Rescue & Sanctuary is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit volunteer-based animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing homeless dogs and cats directly within our community, overcrowded shelters and other unforeseen circumstances. We were founded in 2022 by a small group of animal advocates in Iowa, after recognizing the need to support not only strays and relinquished animals in our area, but areas all across the country. Our startup mission is to offer support to the many local animals in need of homes, by partnering with area shelters and rescues. In addition, we are committed to providing behavioral, medical and low cost resources to people who are considering surrender, in an effort to keep their pets in their homes and out of the shelter system

Mission and Vision

Our existence is based upon providing the exorbitant amount of destitute animals a place to call home, without bars. To provide them with the care and compassion that all beings deserve. To lend our voice to ensure their lives matter, and to help them become free. Free to relax, free to explore and free to be loved, even if for a moment.

Adoption Policy

Requirements We require our adopters to be at least 18 years old. Applicant must have a valid ID and proof of residency. A background check will be run on all adults in the home. We will not adopt to anyone with a violent criminal history or any history of animal abuse or neglect. Applicant must engage in all aspects of our adoption process including meet and greets and home visits. A home visit is mandatory. We require an additional meet and greet with existing animals in the home. We require three personal references and a vet reference. (if you are a current or previous pet owner) All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and kept up-to-date on vaccinations. All pets in the home must also be kept on monthly preventatives or heartworm tested regularly. * All of our animals will be spayed/neutered (size appropriate), microchipped, dewormed or fecal tested (if necessary), current on vaccinations, and kept on preventatives.

"A Purposeful Life Animal Rescue is an amazing supporter of the true underdogs! They have recently accepted a loving dog into their APL Family that has a spinal cord injury. His name is Tango. A dozen other rescues were contacted and each and every one of them declined to accept Tango into their rescue. APL found a way to give Tango a chance to walk again! They located an experience medical foster home to care for Tango. They are finding multiple ways to financially support Tango's medical needs. They are arranging for the key first step in getting Tango an MRI to help set the path for his next medical steps, including physical therapy and rehabilitation. This is the true meaning of rescue! Without A Purposeful Life Animal Rescue, Tango's future looked uncertain and bleak. APL brought hope and determination that Tango will again walk!"

This unique platform connects dog owners with private property owners who are willing to rent out their space for off-leash playtime. While the idea of Sniffspot was initially conceived by his wife, Rebecca, David has been the driving force behind its remarkable success, tirelessly overseeing its growth and development. David's dedication to providing safe and enjoyable spaces for dogs to play, explore, and socialize is evident in his unwavering commitment to Sniffspot. He strongly believes that dogs need ample space and opportunities to stretch their legs and have fun. As a result, he has worked tirelessly to build a network of private property owners across the country who share his vision and are willing to offer their space for the benefit of dogs and their owners. Despite his busy schedule, David always finds time to indulge in his passion for the great outdoors. He loves nothing more than exploring new hiking trails and embarking on thrilling outdoor adventures. Whenever he is not working on Sniffspot, he can often be found hiking or visiting multi-acre fenced sniffspots with his two beloved dogs, Soba and Toshii. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and the sense of freedom that comes with being in nature. David is based in Salem, MA.
