ABTRR is a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue organization. We are a small, dedicated group of Boston Terrier-loving volunteers based in North Texas who stay busy rescuing, training, rehabilitating, transporting, vetting, coordinating and fundraising - all for the love of our chosen breed, the Boston Terrier.
What We Do
All Bostons in the ABTRR Foster Program are thoroughly vetted, heartworm tested, spayed/neutered (if medically appropriate), neurologically assessed, microchipped, and vaccinated (if medically appropriate). We will not turn away a Senior or Special Needs Boston as long as we have available foster space. All Bostons deserve a loving home.
We are unable to accept dogs that exhibit human or dog aggression.
Please note that the adoption process begins with an adoption application followed by reference checks, personal interview, and a home visit. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
We are not a shelter and do not have visiting hours. All dogs in the ABTRR Foster Program are fostered in loving private homes.
All adoptions require an adoption donation to help offset the cost of vetting and proper nutrition while the dog is in our care. All donations are applied to caring for the Boston Terriers in our rescue group.
Mission and Vision
We are an all-volunteer, non-profit group dedicated to the health and well-being of all Senior and Special Needs Boston Terriers. Our mission and main objective is to rescue and rehabilitate homeless Boston Terriers. All adoption applicants are thoroughly screened using our online adoption application that includes checking vet and personal references, personal interviews, as well as a home visit. Secondary objectives include education in proper nutrition and canine wellness. All dogs are spayed/neutered (if medically appropriate) and heartworm negative prior to adoption. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that every Senior and Special Needs Boston Terrier has the chance to live the life they deserve.

Adoption Policy
ABTRR ADOPTION POLICY & PROCESS
Adoption Process
Out of state adoption policy: We are located in Dallas, TX. We will adopt some of our dogs out of state, depending on their situation and needs; however, it is our policy not to ship dogs. This means we do not fly them via cargo nor do we utilize paid ground transport. Adopters may drive to Dallas to adopt their dogs, or they may fly them in-cabin on an airplane (via an airline that accepts Boston Terriers in the cabin). All transport costs are at the adopter's expense.
Applying to adopt: Complete the application in its entirety. If there is anything that you think we need to know that is not asked on the application or you have certain requirements or traits you are looking for in a dog, please put it in the “Other Comments” section of the application.
Reference Check: We will contact your personal and veterinarian references. If those pass, then a home visit will be arranged. One of our volunteers will visit you in your home to ensure that a good match is made for you and that you have proper accommodations for the dog you are interested in**.
Personal Interview: We will contact you via phone at a time that is convenient for you. This interview lasts around 45 minutes with the purpose of getting to know you in addition to sharing our policies and answering questions you may have. We also discuss your home and expectations for the dog so we can be sure you adopt a Boston that is a great fit for you and him/her!
Home Visit: If your home visit passes, then you are approved to adopt from ABTRR!
Adoption Donation: Now that you are approved, pay the adoption donation and bring your new family member home! Adoption donations are as follows:
♥ Dogs under 1 year of age: $550
♥ Dogs 1 - 3 years of age: $450
♥ Dogs 4 - 7 years of age: $375
♥ Dogs 8 - 9 years of age: $275
♥ Dogs 10+ years of age: $175 (ask us about our Seniors for Seniors program!)
**PLEASE REMEMBER: The dog(s) you are interested in may have had a number of applications received on him that were processed before yours, so please be willing to adopt another dog that suits your needs. While pictures are nice to see, looks are not everything. Age should not be a factor either. What you need to look at is personality, activity levels, and behaviors, which will help determine the best dog for you.
Adoptions are by application only!
You can't adopt via phone or via email saying you want a dog. You must submit an application as the first step to adoption.

Get your dog the safe enrichment they need by renting a Sniffspot

David Adams is a man of many passions, but his love for dogs stands above all. He is not only a dog lover, but also the founder of an innovative platform called Sniffspot. This unique platform connects dog owners with private property owners who are willing to rent out their space for off-leash playtime. While the idea of Sniffspot was initially conceived by his wife, Rebecca, David has been the driving force behind its remarkable success, tirelessly overseeing its growth and development.
David's dedication to providing safe and enjoyable spaces for dogs to play, explore, and socialize is evident in his unwavering commitment to Sniffspot. He strongly believes that dogs need ample space and opportunities to stretch their legs and have fun. As a result, he has worked tirelessly to build a network of private property owners across the country who share his vision and are willing to offer their space for the benefit of dogs and their owners.
Despite his busy schedule, David always finds time to indulge in his passion for the great outdoors. He loves nothing more than exploring new hiking trails and embarking on thrilling outdoor adventures. Whenever he is not working on Sniffspot, he can often be found hiking or visiting multi-acre fenced sniffspots with his two beloved dogs, Soba and Toshii. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and the sense of freedom that comes with being in nature.
David is based in Salem, MA.
