55Our first visit this PM to a new—and the only!—Sniffspot in Ashland. The owner, Marvin, mowed his pasture yesterday and met us at the gate. It’s a good-sized spot—flat and perfect for chasing balls. There’s a shady, flowing irrigation ditch where Annie & Cisco cooled off. Marvin plans to provide more shade & dog toys and to regularly mow the pasture to keep the grasses controlled. A & C were all smiles ; loved having the big pasture to run & play.Virginia L M.

55Great new spot in Ashland! Enough space for my sighthound mix to get up some speed. Bring water, the space is partially fenced, mowed and lovely. Marvin is friendly and open to suggestions. We'll be back! Liz S.

55It is supposed to get into the low nineties today so we went at 8:00 am. The sun was low enough that the trees on the perimeter provided some shade. A sprinkler on a stand was turned on and my dogs enjoyed using it to get a drink and cool off. The water pooled a little and my dogs enjoyed splooting in it. ❤️🐶❤️
Not sure if there is always water available so I’d recommend taking water just in case.
The pasture was mostly mowed. There were some foxtails, but really not bad considering their prevalence in the Ashland area. I think the Marvin is doing a decent job trying to keep the foxtails at bay. Kathi I.

55This is a lovely spot and the host’s tips for finding it are perfect. Our dogs spent most of the first hour just sniffing everything. I say first because we plan to be back. I suspect not every host has made the effort to provide such a pleasant experience. We were impressed and appreciated the multiple seating areas.Michelle G.

55Dog poop bags were provided in multiple spots, dog water was provided, and a wide variety of dog toys were offered. There was also a nice seating area for humans that could be shaded with an umbrella if you want! Overall, it was a great experience and I definitely plan to go again!Emma Y.

55Amazing. Clean. Pretty. Fenced. Great supplies and toys. I could totally bring a lunch or my laptop while my dogs chill. There’s a small drainage ditch with tiny amount of mud and they got a bit muddy - but there was a hose and a kiddie pool. Couldn’t ask for better! Will return. C M.

FAQ about our Ashland dog parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 98% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Ashland area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 12 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
