Jasper Memorial Sanctuary - Sliding Fee Scale Using Discount Codes (See Details in Description Below - scroll down)

Fully Fenced
1.3 acres

SLIDING SCALE DISCOUNTS - Guest can choose their pay rate for sanctuary use based on their moment-to-moment economic status. Discounts are as follows: $2 off (JMSS2) $4 off (JMSS4) $6 off (JMSS6) Enter the discount code (in parentheses) for your desired discount. Just as a reminder, or for new inquiries, the effort and cost to recover/rebuild Jasper Memorial Sanctuary was extensive and expensive. Material costs were over $5000. Labor costs, had I hired all the hours worked, are over $15,000. The price increase for utilizing the Sanctuary is small in comparison to the expenses incurred from the loss (0.1%). Thank you to all my amazing guests who have given your dog(s) the opportunity to find their calm within by visiting Jasper Memorial Sanctuary. It is amazing to see your dogs and you finding your inner peace. Thank you too for following all of the rules to keep this SS sustainable into the future. The fee set is the amount needed to allow me to keep this site open and provide improvements when needed. (I understand other sites charge less, but I've learned charging less is not financially sustainable. Hosts do not earn what they charge). I love hosting new and returning guests. RECENT IMPROVEMENTS/RESTORATION: Approximately 80 damaged/downed trees removed. 40 uprooted stumps ground out 340' of new 5' fencing installed 140' fencing repaired New entrance gate/location created 100s perhaps 1000s of poison oak dug out (it's still present, just fewer) Culvert installed at entrance with gravel path to gate. New signs installed. Three new maple trees planted. A 6'x6' sand box has been added. Please encourage digging in this location only. Discourage digging in all other locations for the safety of everyone and the preservation of the environment. A poop bag dispenser has been installed on a post near the gate and will be kept filled - guests may need to refill dispenser from the supply inside the dispensing case. Jasper Memorial Sanctuary, named in memory of my soul dog Jasper, is no larger than 1.3 acres in and fully fenced. The acreage is a combination of mid-age dense timber, new reforestation, devastation zone and open grass. The area is flanked on two sides by driveway. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀. Be respectful of wildlife. Deer and turkey roam the property and consider the space their home. If there are wild animals in the sanctuary enclosure upon your arrival, please keep your dog(s) on leash until the other animals have vacated the area. Under no circumstance are dogs allowed to chase wildlife. Domestic and rescued animals that live on the property include horses, donkeys, geese and chickens. 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀 and do not approach any of these animals. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 is about 50' away from the entrance gate. Please keep dog(s) on leash until within the fenced enclosure. 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗩𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 - If you have reason to have more than two vehicles for your visit, please contact me prior to reserving for pre-approval. If approved, there will be an "Extra" fee to add to your reservation. Please select the appropriate "Extra" for the number of vehicles approved. 𝗔𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗡𝗼 𝗦𝗺𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗩𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴 𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹 𝗨𝘀𝗲 anywhere on the property anytime. 𝗗𝗢 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗴𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗿. Be sure all dogs brought to the property have been registered with Sniffspot for your visit for liability purposes. A 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 are available near the parking area at the corner of the barn. There are also two to three 2-gallon water buckets just outside the dog sanctuary area for your use. If I'm able to, will rinse and fill fresh buckets in the morning, however, feel free to refresh them at the spigot at the barn throughout the day. 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁, two chairs, two benches and a small folding table are available at the site. They may be folded and leaning against a tree during the rainy season. A 𝗽𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝗯𝘂𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 located in the wooden cabinet attached to the fence is available. Please limit to poop. I have no garbage service at the farm, I am the garbage service. Thank you for your consideration. Please 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝘂𝗽 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 and your dog so each person/dog can have an enjoyable experience. NOTE: Wild animal poop will not be picked up. Expect to encounter poop from turkeys and deer. While the presence of coyote, fox, bobcat and cougar is rare, you might see the poop of these animals as well. 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱. The sanctuary is at 1300' elevation and will be closed, appointments cancelled, during snow events. During fire season, the sanctuary may need to be closed, appointments cancelled, due to extreme fire danger. 𝗜 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝘆 𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 - I will attempt to meet you and your dog at your first visit - I will never approach your dog. After that you may not see me during your visit. If I'm not present at your arrival, please review the rules and things to be aware of prior to using the sanctuary posted at the sanctuary entrance. Please help to keep costs down by adhering to the property rules.

T's One Acre Fenced Doggy Paradise 🐾

Fully Fenced
1 acre

Hello! So glad you’re here :) I live on a fully fenced acre with about half available for dog activities right now! We love our furry guests and we are also a full time dog boarding home / pet sitters! All fur babies are welcome. We do ask that you please pick up after your dog - we will have shovels and poop bags readily available. You are also more than welcome to walk your dog down our road if you are looking for a lovely leisure walk! When visiting I will make sure all dogs are up in the house! There may be barking here and there so please let me know if your dog has any sensitivities and I will accommodate. There is an occasional horse in the next pasture or goats. Some people get cell phone service out here while others don’t - enjoy unplugging and winding down or I can supply our WiFi password if desired. Thank you!

Dog park in the forest near Bellfountain.

Partially Fenced
25 acres

The property is a horse ranch on 25 acres surrounded by private forest. There is a shallow year round creek that is refreshingly cold and also a large pond that your dog can swim in. There are hiking trails that start at the edge of the property. The trails are mostly uphill. The outdoor and indoor arenas are available for an extra fee. They are mostly dog proof for large dogs but not escape proof for small dogs. The horses wander around the property early in the morning so if your dog chases horses it should be kept on a leash around the horses. I recommend that I show you around your first time out here. To get here you must be prepared to drive down 5 miles of gravel road. There is a gate to get into the property. The gate code will be sent to you with the welcoming message. Cell phone signals are weak once you get on the gravel so check the pre-visit message sent two hours before the appointment before you get out of cell service.

55My first time visiting this lovely spot. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here!! The trail to the creek is steep, as clearly described, but it is VERY well maintained and takes literally 2 minutes each way. I brought a hiking pole which was helpful for hiking up the creek. I wished I’d had longer than an hour to explore further! Well worth the 30-mile drive from Eugene. Thank you ❤️

55It was fantastic! Plenty of room for my dog to explore and the creek was awesome. Nice job with the steps to get to the creek and nice nice landings along the way with a place to sit and enjoy the view. Maya and I will definitely be back again!

55This place was amazing! The directions and signs were great and made it easy to navigate. Steep drive up but did it in our little car. Hike was not bad as active hikers. There was a hammock and floats for the water. Such a great spot. Definitely want to return.

55Short hike to the waterfall which does get steep towards the end. If you do any hiking then you shouldn’t have a problem, make sure to wear good shoes. They are building stairs which were almost done.

55Great space, basically have your own private creek, waterfalls and viewing deck. You can see the work going into improving the space further, looks like the deck will be expanded with steps to help you down to the water. Plenty of space near the water to relax and throw toys in for the dogs. To mirror other reviews on here, it's a bit of a climb down but manageable with the rope! We'll be back for sure!

55This spot is AMAZING! Our dog had a great time swimming in the creek and exploring. The views surrounding us were beautiful!! Even if you can't make it down to the creek, there is great walking along the road. Host was superful helpful in sharing info about the site leading up to our visit. We can't wait to come back!

55This spot is GORGEOUS! Highly recommend going down to the creek, it was great especially on a hot day. The trail is steeper than I was expecting but the ropes were handy. If you or your dog have physical limitations I would avoid the creek access. Otherwise 10/10, will definitely visit again!

55We are pretty new to Oregon so maybe I am "overstating" this if you're used to the trees and waterfalls of the PNW - but to us, this spot was STUNNING! This was our first time bringing our dog anywhere to try and swim and he absolutely LOVED it, the water was just deep enough for him to paddle around but not big enough to make us nervous. We waded around in the water and relaxed, it was so peaceful and quiet. The directions to get there were very clear and helpful, and hiking boots were a good idea - the trail was a bit steep but only a few minutes to get from the parking spot to the water. Our dog is still very young and not trustworthy off-leash yet, so a 30 foot leash came in handy here. We will ABSOLUTELY be back!

55A little steep on the path down to the water but if you can handle that, this is a beautiful location, the pictures don’t even do it justice. The property was pretty easy to access and the host provided chairs, waste bags, toys, water, and even a place to dispose of waste. Definitely will be returning!

55Could not recommend this place more!! 10/10 will absolutely be coming again. We have 2 large dogs and they did the trail down to the water without any issues, some have said it’s rough to get down, we didn’t have any problems. There’s a lovely deck that looks newer that offers a beautiful view of the waterfalls, stunning. We loved it so much we extended our time almost immediately. Host has two chair to sit and relax in as well as a tub with water and a few toys, some sunscreen. Very thoughtful!

55Unique spot for a romp. The site of a previous wildfire(?) is hauntingly beautiful with the stream, wildflowers, waterfall & new growth. It provided lots of options for our dog to explore and sniff. Detailed descriptions & directions from host were greatly appreciated. As stated, the trail to the stream is steep and rocky for humans…But our dog did not seem to notice or care. He thought it was perfect!!!

55Beautiful spot for dogs. I think I would’ve liked it a lot more if I had larger dogs. The path down to the water was kind of steep. Do not wear flip flops or loose shoes. I had an older French bulldog and thank goodness I brought a towel to make a sling to carry him back up. My other younger frenchie jumped in and got caught in the undertow current for a split second. I had to jump in. This experience was down the path from parking so I’m sure there are other safer spots for smaller dogs. I didn’t have the time to look. The host was very sweet and led me to the parking area via phone because I was lost. I left the Sniffspot early and she gave me a rec which was perfect across the street called Leaburg Dam road with tons of shade and flat walking through the woods. My 2 frenchies were just too small and hot at this Sniffspot. But don’t let it stop you from checking it out and finding a good creek area for smaller dogs.

55It is a beautiful spot. The waterfall was so cool and the creek was great! My dog had lots of fun in the water. The path down to the waterfall/ creek was steep but manageable. My girl was definitely tired out afterwards!

55This is our second visit and it was great to see how the spot is developing! The trail to the creek is cleared and there are several ropes too leading to the perfect little swim spot.

Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?

With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 1% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Walterville area are 5 stars.
