55David’s yard was beautiful with many interesting spots for the dogs to explore. Despite being large, the yard is well fenced (my 6 lb dogs couldnt find a way through). David was super friendly and left water out. There is parking which made coming here convenient. Great time! Would come back. Martyna G.

55Loved this spot! Lots of places to sniff and run, and also to relax once my dog got tired. The fence along one side does have a gap at the top where the chain link runs out, so if you have a big dog you should keep an eye on it. My dog tried to jump through but wasn't agile enough! The host was super kind and gave my sister and I a nice beverage :) Will definitely be returning!Erika P.

55David was a wonderful host. A couple of us met up in his backyard with 2 of our dogs. He met us outside to say hello and even brought us all beers and treats for the doggos! I can't get over what a beautiful (and HUGE) backyard he has. I have a border collie, so this was perfect for him - he was LOVING it! Fully enclosed with lots of big trees, so much space to run around. Will definitely be going back, worth the drive for us!Parisa M.

55Had a family picnic on David’s lovely shady gazebo patio, which is set up very swish, complete with hammock, sectional sofa, and large dining table, cute decor, and a giant vintage cooler, stocked with a couple cool beers (!) and even a mini fridge that one could probably request to be plugged in in advance. There’s a gas station and convenience store within two minutes drive for beer runs (we snagged some Ben and Jerry’s!).
It’s very private in late august with tall trees all around shielding you from viewing the neighbour’s yards, which was good because next door is a large McMansion in the throes of construction.( So I imagine it’s noisy on weekdays?? Something to consider if your pooch hates loud noises)
The yard is huge and rustic but nice and flat, with sturdy established lawn, no bare or rocky spots, some big blown sticks all around but otherwise not rough ground at all. My 3 kids under 5 loved running all over that yard even more than my 2 dogs, and mom and dad enjoyed being able to relax and watch the human- and fur-babies romp. From the listing pictures I was worried I would have to keep running after my dogs so they didn’t race or dig through his carefully planted flower beds lol— but actually all plantings are now mature and hardy and the dogs ran around them.
There were dog biscuits in a jar on the table, and fresh water in a dog bowl. Had the day been super hot I had access to a garden hose to cool them off. Important when you have racing hounds who can get up to 35mph in 3 strides! But of course, Murphy’s law my pups decided to just lounge for the most part (on the comfy sectional and the large cozy dog bed that was provided too!)
David was excellent with communications and a friendly, laid-back host. We have twin toddlers and so we enjoyed the usual wrestling match and emergency diaper etc while getting out the door, then hit traffic on the DVP (natch) so we kept texting him that we were going to be later and later. Ultimately showed up 1.5 hours after our rez started. He was super understanding and flexible and even when I offered to pay a late fee he said not to worry about it. The afternoon was so nice we ended up staying longer than two hours, so I offered to pay for the extra time, and he even comped us that too!! We will definitely be coming back and recommending David’s lovely sniffspot.
Points to consider:
- we all got a few mosquito bites especially in the back part of the lawn.
- there are a few (difficult to distract) wasps; in case one is allergic, come prepared
- at first we city condo dwellers revelled in the sounds of silence and cicadas, but then a “riding” (aka loud) lawnmower started up next door. If you’re looking for total quiet it won’t be here
- you can hear the host’s 3 dogs barking now and then inside the house, not very noticeable and my moderately dog reactive girl wasn’t triggered by it. A highly dog reactive pup might not be able to relax here.( My girl is reactive when approached or near another dog, not so much at a distance or auditory. )
- David was visiting with a friend on his front veranda and I was rushed and greeted by his dogs when coming back from the ice cream run. Had my reactive girl been with me, this would definitely not have been ideal.
- the Sniffspot booking system was a bit buggy on my iPhone so you should definitely double check that your rez went throughJasmine R.

FAQ about our Markham dog parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 95% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Markham area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 236 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 45 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
