Our mission to provide a safe haven for dogs in desperate circumstances within our community and surrounding area. We rehome these dogs with families that are a good fit for the dog. We seek to serve the humans that come to us ‚both our adoptive families and the people who need help rehoming dogs ‚but our priority is to act as advocates for our dogs at every stage of the rescue and adoption process. We commit to our dogs for life! We are a registered non-profit organization, headquartered in the Tri-Cities in south-central Washington State. We focus mainly on saving dogs that are at risk in our region and placing them with adopters throughout the Pacific Northwest. Most of our dogs come from shelters in Washington & Idaho, where they are facing the threat of Euthanasia. Others are released to us by private individuals who need medical help with their own dogs. Other dogs are strays, either dumped or abandoned, that need a chance at a new life.

Resilient Hearts is one of the most welcoming and inclusive places I've ever entered. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted with warm smiles and the encouragement to "pick up a puppy, any puppy!" Little did I know that, a few years later, it would become one of the most meaningful parts of my community in Seattle. I've sorted donations, volunteered at the shop and at events, and even fostered over a long weekend. This is a place that accepts all of who you are and what you have to offer, and gives endless love, compassion, and kindness in return, beyond all the incredible work they do to save dogs (and cats). I cannot recommend them more highly.

Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is the revolution of rescue. As a rock and roll-themed, foster-based, volunteer-powered rescue, we take in animals that have no one else. "Animals" primarily means dogs and cats, but as the name "zoo" implies, we take all kinds (as long as we have a foster home/ resources for that species). We work with shelters and owners who cannot keep their pets and through extensive veterinary care and training, we rehabilitate them and place them in loving, forever homes where the animals will never again be abandoned. More than 30% of the animals we take in are special or medically needy and require more extensive and expensive care. In all we work with all ages, breeds, many species and all different types of humans too- treating each as an individual so they can find the life and love they deserve.

We went to visit a dog named Flora, but staff could see that she didn’t seem to connect with us, so the staff member suggested Pebbles. I cannot tell you enough what an amazing and supportive organization GPI is! I adopted my first greyhound from them and I will never forget how supportive they were when my pup cried every night for a week and peed all over the house! I was so stressed out and didn't think I could keep her. They helped talk me off the ledge and I wound up keeping this pup with their guidance, and I cherish her every day (9 years with us!). My daughter and I wound up volunteering with them years later. The team at GPI is so wonderful, always remembering us but most of all, can remember my dog's racing name, where she raced, and who else she came with. The team at GPI adores the greyhounds that come in, working all hours to welcome these dogs off the track and into the real world- which is no easy task. Greyhounds are such a special breed, and this organization really knows how to support these sweet racers and get them into loving homes.

John A. Hern Jr. founded Greyhound Pets, Inc. in 1985. John was a Coeur D'Alene, Idaho businessman who built a foundry business and owned Industrial Park real estate. Among John's many and varied interests, he held greyt admiration for ex-racing greyhounds and became committed to their care and welfare. As the greyhound racetrack opened in Coeur D'Alene John started a small side business providing feed and racing equipment to track kennels. He demonstrated his commitment to the dogs by being instrumental in building a track sponsored Greyhound Welfare Committee that reviewed track and kennel policies. John's first greyhounds were Roo and Babe, the two greyhounds featured in the GPI logo. John adopted several greyhounds after Roo and Babe. Ace was one of his favorites and was the subject of many of John's stories. John was the executive director of Greyhound Pets, Inc. for many years and oversaw expansion to include the Pacific Northwest and Southwestern Canada. John's generous bequest to the organization he founded has provided for GPI's continued prominence in the ex-racing greyhound rescue effort. The volunteers who continue in the efforts John began, honor his colorful leadership in finding homes for ex-racers. John is remembered and his love for ex-racing greyhounds honored in the Hern Greyt Works, GPI's kennel facility in Woodinville, WA.

We came to know Juno’s Den through a “foster with chance to adopt” situation. What a loving and kind organization! They checked in on Winnie frequently to make sure she was adjusting and that we had everything we needed to care for her, and after she passed the test with our other pup, we went ahead with the adoption, completed with a mailed, hand-written thank you note for giving Winnie her “fur-ever” home. It was a smooth process and again, Juno’s Den followed up periodically to check on Winnie. They are passionate about finding loving homes for rescues and are great to work with.

When my mom passed away. We found this rescue. We were very please to see the care and determination to place their dogs in only the best homes. With Careing Hearts 4 Paws, we were touched to see how many animals they help. Our little Keeka Girl is the best dog ever. And with her history of abandonment, the rescue took the time to help her and her litter survive, comforting and caring for them. I also help and support the rescue with providing essential products. Like shampoo and sanitizer when I am able to. I have recommended Caring Hearts 4 Paws , over and over again. And will continue to do so. Thank you for finding me my furever pup.❤️❤️❤️❤️

Misspits Rescue is amazing! I learned of Misspits from a holiday donation drive at my local pet store. My partner and I have a love of pitbulls and we were immediately drawn to the love and compassion this rescue has for misunderstood breeds. I became a fan and follower on social media, which led to becoming a monthly patreon supporter. Melissa's concern is for the well-being of the animals, always. To adopt from Misspits there is an application, reference checks, and virtual home checks. When it came time to add to our family, our first and only stop was Misspits. We filled out the very thorough application and went through the checks before we were able to meet the litter. There was still a month between meeting the puppies and when they would be old enough to go home (weaned, spayed/neutered, vaccinated). She stayed in contact with us for that month, sending us photos and updates. The puppy that picked us showed signs of fearfulness. She explained how he was very hesitant with new situations, how that could impact him going forward, and checked if we still were prepared to adopt him (without judgment). Melissa is dedicated to making sure the dogs she adopts are going into the best situation possible, knowing it is only good if it is good for everybody. She set us and our dog up for success. We weren’t caught off guard when our dog came home and the least threatening things made him very nervous; we were prepared to give him time and let him decide things for himself. We became regular volunteers at Misspits after bringing our dog home. We have mucked stalls, assembled pens, moved hay, and cleaned equipment (because, yes, she rescues farm animals too!). To date we have fostered five dogs for her before they found their forever homes. We adopted a second Misspits alum a year and a half after our first. I conduct many of the virtual home visits in the application process, occasionally checking references too. One of her pastures is set up as a Sniffspot because she believes in creating safe and fun spaces for dogs. The amenities for dogs and their humans show the thoughtfulness put into the creation of the location. Misspits Rescue has given so many animals the opportunity to live their best lives. Melissa is an endless inspiration for the good we can create for the world.

I started Misspits Rescue in 2013 to help advocate for pit bull type dogs. After adopting Dexter, a big, happy, pit bull that almost died simply due to his looks, I knew I had to do something. After years working with a local pit bull rescue and volunteering at a shelter, Misspits Rescue was born. In the last ten years we have grown and moved to larger property. We adding additional breeds over the years and help those that need us the most. Now that we have the space, we offer sanctuary to farmed animals as well. This created a perfect place to help struggling herding breeds as well.

At Path of Hope Rescue we strive to decrease the euthanasia rate of high risk dogs in the southern United States by transporting pregnant dogs and puppies to the Pacific Northwest to find adoptive homes. We are 100% foster based and rely on volunteers and fosters to help in our mission. The overpopulation of dogs in Texas is extreme. Because of a culture that does not value spay and neuter, there are simply too many dogs. And because of this, dogs are being euthanized merely for their existence. Shelters are forced to choose which dog to kill and which to save on a daily basis. There are an estimated 700,000 stray dogs just in the city of Houston alone. Dogs on the streets, dogs in shelters, dogs living on chains, dogs everywhere. Pregnant dogs and puppies are often euthanized because of the amount of resources they require or even more often, pregnant moms are spayed, aborting the puppies. Path of Hope Rescue believes that these dogs deserve a chance at life.

I have volunteered at several shelters in the area, and I can say without a doubt that Homeward Pet Adoption Center is my favorite. I always recommend them to anyone looking to adopt a new pet. I am a dog trainer and can attest to the quality of care the dogs receive. Their days are full of love, enrichment, and positive interactions with volunteers and staff. Since my time as a volunteer, the shelter has become fully Fear Free Certified, which is wonderful! And I remember the aromatherapy, soft music, and all of the things we did as volunteers to reduce stress for the animals in the shelter. That kindness and compassion extended to the people at the shelter as well. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I can't recommend them enough!

We adopted McCormick from the Humane Society of Tacoma last December. When we first got him, he didn't know how to use the stairs. He didn't know how to play with toys. He was afraid and confused. Now his room is full of toys and he loves to play with them. Usually it's difficult for dogs of his size (XXL) to get adopted. McCormick didn't like the shelter (it's too loud with too many unfamiliar dogs around) and Humane Society of Tacoma found a foster for him. We saw his picture on their website and fall in love with him. He is a very strong and confident dog and he needs to be trained and spent a lot of time with. We are still working on his obedience training and he is getting better and better every day.

I had just recently and unexpectedly losy my pup our family had almost 10 years, while Sue at Caring Hearts just brought in a family of pups from an abandoned house. I knew as soon as I seen them if one of them was a male without extreme health issues it would help fill the loss in my heart. She was amazing in communicating with me and immediately help me find the one in her new pack that would be best for my family. I still am in communication with her and try to help support her in her journey helping dogs in need.

Motley Zoo is changing lives across the world, taking in rescue animals from places most in need. They use their impact on the animal community to help the human world, too. They make sure their team is well taken care of a supported, Jme and Pate going above and beyond to help anyone who asks for it. Not only do they help find homes for the animals, they also help rehabilitate dogs with behaviors issues with training, who end up making great pets. I am actively inspired by Motley Zoo and their ambitions to create a better world for animals and human alike.

John A. Hern Jr. founded Greyhound Pets, Inc.

I started fostering with Path of Hope in the Summer of 2020 when I saw a video online that they were transporting puppies from Texas and need fosters. I quickly got in deep! I foster, I've adopted, and I volunteer 10-15 hours per week in the Marketing Pack. Path of Hope is a unique Rescue in Spokane as their mission is high risk, pregnant dogs and puppies from Texas. We go to great lengths to rescue dogs and transport them to the Pacific Northwest. Each and every dog has a place in our hearts. Once a PHR dog, always a PHR dog. We stand by them until the end. I have learned so much from this Rescue and fully support the mission. PHR has given me an opportunity to do what I love and make an impact with animals. The community is amazing! We're all dog lovers that just want to do what's best for the dog. We support each other, teach each other and celebrate accomplishments together. Together, I believe we are making an extraordinary difference.
  • Path of Hope Rescue Logo

    Path of Hope Rescue
